“I honestly wasn’t going to take any other visits this summer,” said Hainsey. “I was done. Then, my mom and I were talking, and we felt that she needed to see Notre Dame since she had been on other trips with me. She really liked it though. The staff is super nice and she liked that. She said they were real and she loved what they had to say about everything, especially with the academics and life after football aspect.”
I’d say it was probably my conversation with coach Hiestand and the way he explains what he can do for me in football and what the school can do for me in life,” said Hainsey. “I really started thinking about it after our talk. I think it’s one of the only places that can do the best for me in school and football.”
“I think he likes me at tackle because of my athletic ability and length,” said Hainsey. “But, he made it clear that it’s kind of uncertain at this point and would be figured out down the road.”
“His pitch is that he doesn’t have a pitch,” said Hainsey of his talk with Kelly. “They show what Notre Dame can do for me and that’s it. They have what they have and they are what they are. Notre Dame is not for everyone. They told me that. I could see that. He said that they won’t be mad at me if I go somewhere else, but they made it clear that Notre Dame is a place I could succeed at. They simply talk about themselves and what it can do for me personally and don’t talk other schools or promise anything.”
