Philly said Jaylon was his favorite, ever, in another thread. I'll make it easier on everyone by narrowing it down.

Who is your favorite ND player of the past 10 years? Let's say 2005 (BQ's junior year) to now.

Mine: Theo Riddick
Runners up: Kap, Blanton, Golden

Was Zbikowski still there? If not him I've got to go with Zack Martin or Chris Brown

Golden Tate. I just love watching that man play football.

After him:
KLM, for what he meant to that team in 2012. Te'o got the glory but Kap was the glue.

Zibikowski (he counts, right?). He leveled guys. He took punts to the house. And for what he's done since "retiring."

Michael Floyd. Not sure why but I feel strongly about players graduating from Notre Dame instead of jumping to the draft, and he was the first stud player in awhile who chose that route. Set a different tone. Not to mention being a ridiculously talented WR.

Sheldon Day. What a warrior.

Te'o. That season was the most fun I've ever had watching ND football and he made so many absurd plays.

Jaylon. He is just the perfect ND dude on and off the field. I'll miss him. True story: I brought a few of my buddies up from Cincinnati for the ND-Michigan night game 2 years ago. One of them had tickets from his dad (his mother works for Michigan) and was a diehard Michigan fan. The other two were gifted extra tickets that my family had applied for. When they asked what player they needed to know to fit in with ND fans, all I had to tell them was Jaylon. Needless to say, they were loved at all tailgates based off of just saying "Jaaayylon?" to other ND fans. Such an amazing game.

That season was truly magical.

ETA: I was abroad at the time and stayed up crazy late every week to watch the games or follow the Gamecast. Worth every single second.

Tom Zbikowski, Tyler Eifert, Theo Riddick, Robert Blanton.

I get goosebumps every time I watch Zibby's punt return VS USC in 05. You can FEEL the emotion from that play. When he shrugs off the last defender with the stiff arm, scores, and then starts tugging on his jersey like he doesn't know what to do with himself? Goosebumps every single time I watch that play. And I watch it a lot through the offseason.

Eifert was just so dominant in the red zone that it's silly, and he's the poster child for under-recruited monsters. And he's the best TE in the NFL behind Gronk, and he plays for my team, so that helps retroactively.

Theo switched from RB to slot and back to RB, and just kept going to work each year like a businessman. The work he did through 2012 was awesome. His performance against USC to lock up the spot in the natty was just silly good.

Blanton could tackle like no other CB, and I always respected the way he would make crazy run support from the CB position look like business as usual. His play against Utah was THE turning point for this program IMO. And he gets bonus points for putting a halt to MSU's trick play bullshit, after the defense had been burned the previous three or four years every time they played Sparty. I celebrated way too hard when he blew up that WR reverse pass in 2012.

Harrison Smith. Guy took a lot of sh*t on this site cause the multiple coaching regimes took a while to find his place and keep him there. Now he is perhaps the best safety in football and one of the top 2 ND players in the NFL (Zach Martin)
