For a sec, I thought Coney was committing tomorrow, which scared me since he just finished his visit with UF. I think ND still leads by a good bit, but that may change once more details are released pertaining to the visit. Needless to say, it's gonna take their best and then some to top the impact the ND visit had on him.

You're trolling, right?

At Friday Night Lights with his mother, and commented to an interviewer that - Florida is my leader over Notre Dame right now. But I also like Auburn and Tennessee. On with the motley! Scatback Ray Ray McCloud will announce his verbal on Monday(July 28) at 6:30 PM.

Okay. I'm not going to spend time insulting you, but you have to realize this is EXACTLY why people get upset with you. You quoted a post saying that Coney told a reporter that Florida is his leader with ND in second, and you proceeded to say that you think ND leads by a good bit.

I know wishing doesn't make it so. Be content with what is, and yet, ain't nothin' wrong with wishful thinking! I'm gonna fall down the wishing well with you, and conjure commitments from Cowart and Coney as well.

You think ND leads by a good bit, yet you don't want him to commit tomorrow?

Well, looks like I got some 'splainin to do. First, I wasn't able to reply since I was at work. For some reason, I can access this site, but I can't log in.

Secondly, I actually misread his quote. I thought CTD stated that HE thinks Coney had UF as the leader. I didn't know it was he himself that stated it. Sorry.

But nevertheless, what happened? I don't see how UF got back on top. He seemed to have ND as the leader, and everything up until this point was trending towards ND. Either way, this is a can't lose recruit. There really isn't another fallback plan if Coney commits to Florida, and I really don't feel all that comfortable sticking with Barajas and maybe Bilal (not even sure he's a lock anymore now that this madness is going on).

Now your posts in here make sense. Glad you cleared that up.

He visited for arguably the best recruiting event in college football.

Damn it. Like I said, ND can't let this guy slip through their fingers. There isn't another option at this time, at least not one that's on his level. Coney is the reason that losing Hilliard didn't hurt as bad as it should. If Coney spurns ND, then it makes losing Hilliard 1000x worse.

It'll be alright.

Our LBs are solid.

And we have a few dandies on the radar for next year amigo.

Head up, chin down.

Perhaps, but I'd rather get the LB issues at least underway now, rather than wait another cycle. We're already pushing our luck with RB and QB, and I'm not entirely confident with our LB corp's depth. Morgan and Smith should be good, but outside of that, it's pretty much a slew of unknowns. Especially at MLB, where I only really see Morgan, Schmidt and possibly Grace, but Morgan just arrived, Schmidt is a former walk-on and Grace is still recovering from a disintegrated leg. Ugh. It's especially frustrating, because for the SECOND time this cycle, we have a very high quality MLB that might end up slipping through our fingers. On top of Hayes, inexplicably and spontaneously committing to SC, doesn't have me very confident in '16's LB class either.

A lot of time and football to be played between now and February. Let's see how ND does this season and let's see how Florida does. If Muschamp tanks, the Gators may be looking for a new coach, and Coney may look elsewhere.

I think Florida is looking at an 8-4 season at best. But if the new offense doesn't click at some point they're more likely to be 6-6. Is that enough to deter Coney? I have no idea.

Which further confuses the living daylights out of me. Why would Coney have UF as the leader when it's pretty obvious that Muschamp's seat is hotter than Jessica Biel's ass in Chuck and Larry.

I think if schools like michigan and florida lose their head coach, it would be more bad than good.

Take Florida for instance. They've been mediocre since Tebow left. Their one good season they flushed down the crapper with their pathetic loss to UofL in the Sugar Bowl. They're coming off a truly embarrassing entire season....and yet they're still sitting there with lots of top recruits. So the guy who has done a shitty and embarrassing job at the school now is replaced with a different, sexier, and almost assuredly better coach? Yeah, I see a school like Florida getting a BUMP in recruiting if they change regimes.

Maybe it shows that it's not always easy to find a quality coach even when you're a top football school.

Generally I would tend to agree with you. The new-hire "bump" is very real at most big schools... everyone wants to be part of the resurgence. Urban did it at tOSU, Sark did it at USC, even Charlie Weis did it at ND before '05, etc. However, there's been some evidence lately that this isn't always the case, either. Charlie Strong didn't set the world on fire when he got to Texas, and even back in '09/'10, BK didn't sign a bunch of last-minute studs when he got to ND like other coaches might have.

It's a crap shoot, really, that I think boils down to how impressionable the recruit is, not necessarily the "sexy" coaching change being the huge deciding factor. Some kids become a prisoner of the moment, while others stay level through a big change in their recruitment.

What kind of kid would Tevon be? No idea.
