I'd also like to stop the F*** Taylor Decker talk. He pushed Jaylon in the back after the play. He didn't go after his knee. It wasn't a big hit. It wasn't just a late shove. It was a freak injury. There are all kinds of plays after the whistle which are much, much worse.

And I don't see how he drops below the end of the Third Round. He's a lottery ticket around pick #100 for a team with playoff talent. I'd love to see the NY Football Giants take a shot. They need impact linebackers and I'm willing to wait a year or two for this one!

Exactly! Taylor Decker is a freak. From the time he reversed his commitment a day after he swore things were solid with ND, and he ran to Urban with big Dave, and chuckles.

Ok?

I said it was sad. Clearly referring to the possibility of him never being able to play the game he loves and have his life altered from here on out.

He left school early to fulfill a dream though and money is part of it. He has an insurance policy that will help him throughout the rest of his life (in a way that the NFL could have). So me asking is relevant to the conversation.

Edit: A Few Thoughts on Jaylon Smith's Injury and Insurance Policy - One Foot Down
My apologies. That wasn't aimed specifically at you. It was just my thoughts in general on the situation.
I just don't see how he can go undrafted. There will be a team in the 6th/7th round that takes him if he's not already picked. At that point you're reaching anyways.
Hell get drafted.
I'll bet all my vbucks he is drafted somewhere in rounds 1-4.
I'm with ya, I'd say he doesn't make it past round 3.

I'd take him from the middle of the second on if he's there. It's worth the risk. I remember watching him in person against Clemson. There were a lot of future NFL players on the field that night. Jaylon didn't just stand out, he looked like a completely different species from everyone else.

If that is the case great news. I hope the power comes on while Pittsburgh is on the clock!

He'll be drafted. The body is amazing in it's ability to heal and adapt. He'll have access to the best care available, and in time will be a beast again. I have seen first hand in my practice older people w/ much lower health status' than Jaylon bounce back from nerve injuries with time and care. That said, everyone is different and I don't know the details of how his healing is coming along, but I would bet on a person of his health status every time if they are willing to put in the work to come back, which he obviously is.

Fuck Taylor decker

I wonder if Decker ever reached out to Jaylon. If he doesn't feel like a complete prick for what he did, then he is simply a horrid human being. Potentially ruined the life of a tremendous guy in Jaylon.

Just another reminder that life sucks sometimes.

Yeah he tweeted him right after, I was going to link the tweet but it's been taken down since then. Basically apologized and said he would never intentionally try to hurt another player IIRC.

Do people not remember the play? It was a freak injury, not a dirty move by Decker. Jaylon got pushed a good 1-2 seconds before the play ended since Barrett fumbled back at the LOS. What was Decker supposed to do? Wait politely for Jaylon to get back on his feet then try and block him? He did what any OL would do. If Stanley did that to someone we'd all be "too bad but Stanley has to finish his block and play through the whistle."

The play is at 18:10

Decker did nothing wrong, it was a freak accident. Nice to see Elliot show Jaylon some love, I missed that during the game.

Looked like a push in the back to me, but it was definitely before the whistle blew. Doesn't mean the hit was necessarily malicious, but it probably should have been a penalty. The hit occurred right in front of the back judge it looks like.

Plus given his general health and age gives him a better opportunity to fully recover. It will just take time.

As far as F@ck TD. I've watched the play and while it wasn't malicious, it wasn't necessary. For all intents and purposes, the play was over when he shoved him.

How was he supposed to know that? He probably thought it was necessary since Jaylon was fighting to get back up and make a play.

Definitely not a dirty play. Uncalled for, you can make that claim, but Decker was simply just trying to establish it was going to a physical game. That's what you want to see any OL do. Just very unfortunate it ended up like it did, but he was just setting the tone. If he dove at his knee after pushing him down, then that's where you can make the argument, but he just pushed him again after the play.

Um yeah I agree. I think he gets picked on the 4th.

I still think his floor is the 4th round. I know that's not popular, but if a RB with far worse injury history was taken in the 4th, then a team will take a game changing defensive player before then.

I am ready if you are. Just which one of us gets to hold the crossbow, and which one of us yells, "Squeal like a pig, boy!"

PS. Did all of you and I watch the same Fiesta Bowl? The push was after the whistle, go look. Even if it wasn't massively powerful, (after all it came from a pansy like Decker,) Jaylon had no warning it was coming. Neither did the back judge. Every one was paying attention to action around the ball at the end of the play.

If you watch the play again, Decker's body language looks just like that brat that intentionally pulls some shit, and doesn't expect things to go south as a result. You can watch him as he walks into it like a bully, and turns like a coward when he sees the way Jaylon goes down. Don't have much sympathy for him. Because the most important thing about it isn't in the OSU-ND game film. It is in all of Decker's other games. The guy is a cheap shot artist, and a bully.

You should re-watch it then because you're incorrect. The push was about 1-2 seconds before the whistle. The video is a few posts up and it's very evident it came before the whistle.

I'd curious to know how many teams have had their team doctors look at Jaylon or have requested permission to speak to Jaylon's doctor. IMO, the team that will take him probably won't have a pressing need at LB and will give him the time to completely recoup.

I've siad it multiple times. Our boy belongs in Pittsburgh. Super patient organization. No need for him to rush himself there.
