I'm surprised nothing's leaked out about the medical re-checks yet. I read in several places that they'd be over by late morning.

Yeah, Myles Jack's checkup was leaked and apparently some teams had a few issues. Shaq Lawson's shoulder checked out.

That would be the rich getting richer. Pitt has put together a young, nasty front 7, considering Tuitt and Shazier are already in there. Looking at Pitt's depth chart, it looks like every starter was a 1st round draft pick except for the NT Cam Thomas. Lot of young talent there, which is a far departure from where they were several years ago.

[EDIT] Okay, not every starter was a 1st round. Forgot Tuitt fell to the 2nd, but should have been a 1st. Pitt definitely got lucky.

Agreed, and we don't need him anytime soon so he can heal up all he wants.

Yeah, our boy could hang out, take a redshirt year. See some duty next season. And then be the guy year 3.

As they should.

Very fun front 7. But Timmons is not getting any younger and is an ideal guy to help Jaylon out. Incredible athlete coming out of college.

He grew up a Patriots fan....NE has 11 draft picks and can easily trade up if he falls to the bottom of the 1st. I'm sure everyone here would be just thrilled to see him end up in New England...

They took Dominique Easley at the end of the 1st round in 2014 and essentially "redshirted" him his rookie year while he was rehabbing so there is some precedent for this in that organization.

Pats cut Easley....so maybe they'll be more hesitant. Although Easley's problem was half attitude issues and half injuries.

Haven't seen much online with him going anywhere higher than Round 3 after today's evaluation. Like everyone else here, I'd be ecstatic if my team took him in Round 2. But I doubt any team with a HC/GM who needs to win ASAP will do that.

The Bengals took Darquez Dennard two years ago in the first round and essentially redshirted him... a guy can hope?

Browns took Ifo Ekpre-Olomu last year to redshirt. We ended up cutting him, but hey there is precedent. I'd be ecstatic if we got Jaylon at 65.

Why'd he get cut? Not the same post-injury?

I thought he was going to be a stud.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news guys, but this needs to be shared.

Can he come back to school? Or did he make a really bad decision?

I don't know about the specifics of his insurance policy, but I don't know if his policy would have been good for another year. At this point, he will get his payout and I'd be shocked if he wasn't picked up with at least a 7th round pick. At that point, he will rehab on the team's checkbook and if he recovers, he will play and be one year closer to unrestricted free agency. That being said, if he can't recover, he will be able to return and finish his degree unless other circumstances will prevent that. I don't know of any, but that's the only reason I could think of where he would not be welcomed back to get his degree.

He made the only decision that he could really make. Unless he wanted to risk coming back to ND, not playing this year, nerve damage never gets better and he never sees a dime from the NFL.

The worst case scenario for Jaylon now is that he doesn't get drafted, collects 5 million dollars tax free, nerve damage never gets better and he never plays in the NFL.

Exactly. Hope it gets better but he made the right decision.

If he really isn't going to recover, this goes beyond being upset as an ND fan. He is an exceptional talent that I would've gotten a ton of pleasure watching at the LB position for years. The idea that we may never see a 26 year old grown-man Jaylon in his prime is a tragedy for the sport.

whoa whoa slow down...foorst of all what the hell is "drop foot" and is this in fact been confirmed?

I couldn't handle his playing career ending on a Monday at 445pm thru a tweet.

Drop foot is when you have difficulty lifting the front part of your foot.

Where's that Doctor fella that posts occasionally? I would love to hear his opinion on this.
