That's where Wimbush was, right?

Didn't know that, but yes, I guess you're right.
The focus on speed during track season has shown with Wimbush reporting his fastest times of 10.8 seconds in the 100-meter dash and 22 seconds in the 200.
Incoming Notre Dame QB Brandon Wimbush shocked by Golson news - Notre Dame Insider: Notre Dame Football

This is still really impressive considering this kid still has another year though. Besides, I knew he could run, but not like that. Sub-11.0 is pretty damn fast. For reference, while there have been faster times to win it, the winning time for the 100 meter dash in Indiana last year was 10.73. Kiante Enis received his Michigan offer last year after running a wind aided 10.53 and finished 24th in the state of Indiana with one of his worst times of the entire year, 11.44.

If this is him, he ran a 11.32 100 on February 20th.

Avery Davis - TX Track and Field Profile

He clearly doesn't run the event for his team if he only ran it once last year. Cedar Hill is probably chalk full of sprinters.

Yeah, I'm not a big track guy but I know they've had similar discussions here in the past regarding wind-aided times.

Rest assured, 10.8 or 11.3 is both pretty fast, especially for a QB.

He is essentially a slight step slower than Wimbush, emphasis being on slight. Avery's track times are very solid. When reading track times it is important to remember the difference between FAT times, hand times, and relay times. Avery's 11.32 was FAT not hand time meaning the kid is fast. Expect him to get to the low 11s by end of spring.

This is the first film of his that I have been blown away by. I am thoroughly impressed. I wonder if his size and arm strength will having him peaking in high school. After finally seeing this I am happy to take him now.

I still think he needs to learn to drive off of his back leg (loses steam on his throws) and he's likely done growing. He'll have durability concerns because of his weight - which will probably never be north of 200 lbs. I do see a kid who's got a strong arm (like Golson) with very good speed. As it's been discussed his track time of 11.32 is a step behind Brandon Wimbush (11.25) when Brandon was a senior. I think he compares to Golson, Vernon Adams (faster than both) or maybe closer in skillset to Jerrod Heard from Texas. Just 2 inches shorter.

those highlights remind me of high school EG so much....a point guard playing the qb position...this isn't a knock on him at all....everett's high school film was a thing of beauty

Think he and Cam ended up 10 minute senior highlights with this constantly playing in the background...and I absolutely loved it.

I don't see it. Davis is a much better runner and more explosive but he doesn't have close to the arm of Everett. Not even close, Everett tape was a wet dream

Everett definitely knew how to drive the ball downfield. He put his whole body into his throws. Davis has a gun, but his shoddy footwork is holding it back.

Also, Davis is playing much stiffer competition.

So what you're saying, is that he reminds you of Avery Davis.

Definitely looks like a more natural runner than EG. Also like to see the read option included multiple times in the film. Thats become an important part of our offense and its always nice to have a QB that's familiar with it, instead of having to try to teach them everything. The throw he makes at the 40 second mark with the blitzer in his face was big time.

im talking about the point guard playing qb...smaller guy bouncing around in the pocket...its as almost like he is hoping around in there---it is the exact thing EG's high school film showed....and then making ridiculous plays during the breakdown and collapse of pocket....not talking in regards to arm strength or speed...

Make this kid a RB lined up behind Hooker, or put him in the slot. Love his speed, but he's a bit short for a QB.

Thought he'd be much quicker. I was surprised when he didn't crack the Top 20 they released directly after the combine on Sunday night. If he doesn't have a near 4.0 or better shuttle, i'm off the Davis train.

Then again, maybe he had the flu?

Lol a laser timed 4.6 is fantastic for a high school junior. Especially a QB.

...but it's not fantastic for slot receiver, APB or DB and that's what Davis very well could end up being at ND.

Wimbush is there through '19 so in '20, Book is a GS, Davis RSJr along with maybe another QB like Hooker, your '18 QB will be a RSSo. That could be Phil Jurkovec. The '19 QB will be a RSFr... like Sam Johnson or JT Daniels. If you're 6-0 (tops) and trying to play QB at ND, you might wanna have a back-up plan.
