Shamrock,
You need to change that avatar. It's the worst. I don't mind the purple face, but the quality looks like something made on a windows 3.1 machine back in 92.

I also hate grainy avatars but it appears he's intent on keeping the look. He's so unique.

As to Montelus, glad he's getting a chance to earn PT. I was really high on him coming out of HS, I thought he'd be a mauler for us. Hopefully he can develop some nasty and get after it on the other side.

That would be great. I'm all for demoralization of opponents. But is it also possible that any of them might flip to defense?

I think here particularly of Montelus, who lots of people describe with words like "wrecking ball" that have me envisioning mayhem in USC's offensive backfield. I realize the skill sets and physical characteristics are a bit different. But they're not that different, and there tends to be more room for second and third stringers to contribute on D.

They should've listened to me two and a half years ago. ;)

Seriously, though, this seems like a good idea, both for Montelus and our depth chart. He was never going to see the field on the OL. And you can never have enough guys on the defensive front.
I wouldn't worry about Hayes, MDT, Tiassum. I'd just look at how many DLs Ohio State carries and see this as a step in that direction..

Nice.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk

Hope he can stick to some type of S&C routine while he's down there.

Got his degree and about 5 min playing time. Who can blame him. another 4 star under Kelly who doesn't pan out.

Montelus was in a stacked offensive line situation with lots of other guys who are at least as talented. It's not Kelly's fault there's loads of talent at his position. I do wonder what might have happened if they'd tried him on D earlier in his career.
Too bad. I always root for a fellow Bostonian. Certainly can't blame him for moving on though. Does he wind up at UConn with Diaco?

lol only five O linemen play and it's not like they are rotated. He played behind a ton of great and talented players. BK is the last person I'm blaming here, was it BK fault he let himself go and put on some LB's

Every recruiting class there always one player (other than an obvious 5* stud like Jaylen) who I really like and think will be great player. They always end up being none factors: Montelus, Tyler Stockton, Tee Shepard. Good thing I don't follow recruiting as closely anymore so I can't jinx anyone else haha.

Player Name Grammar Police

Can you really count Tee Shepard? The others I can agree on.

Grad transferring to UVa. Great choice. Best of luck to John. He's on the path to success with those two pieces of paper on the wall.

Hahahahaha definitely one of the dumber comments I've seen on here in a while. OL is absolutely stacked with talent.

Don't feel bad. Koon has cursed way more players. Anyone who ever made the bod squad, other than Jaylon, never really panned out. Jaylon was just too good to let a curse hold him back.

starting at LG for UVA

Good for him. I'm a Boston homer and always wanted to see this guy break through for us, but the O Line is so stacked. Was hopeful when they turned him around to try D (and, man, he could have been great to have for depth this year). But nice to see him starting at UVA.

Any scoop on McGovern?

Last I heard about him, he (or UVa) passed on him joining the squad at the end of 2nd semester / start of summer. I'm sure it's in his thread.

Remember his picture in the UVa announcement tweet where he looked about 260?

Wrapped up his college career today in UVA's baaaad loss to Navy.

Started up until the 10th game vs Miami. Not sure why he lost his starting spot because apparently he had an extremely good year per the PFF tweet below. Even when not starting, looks like he still got the bulk of the snaps to reach those numbers listed That's some soon to be rich company he's on that list with btw.

*interesting note, the player who started against Miami and VT in Montelus' place was Ben Knutson of Mishawaka Penn HS who I wished HH would have taken a chance on at the time. (Easy to say now because of P-Money's flame-out) Knutson's listed at 6-8, 325 now as a RS-Fr.

Hope John is able to make some money on Sundays if that's his choice. If not, those two diplomas will serve him well.

Seriously, I wonder why every OL doesn't want to play at ND. If I were advising any of these kids I would tell them to go to ND, enroll early, work your butt off in the classroom when you're not starting so that you are on track to graduate in 3. If you start in your first three years, then you are on track to play in the NFL. If not, you just got the best coaching possible at your position for three years and now you can grad transfer somewhere else and play for a year or two and see if you can make the league and if you still can't then you have two degrees to fall back on.

Who would pay $1500 (or $150) for a ring from the Pinstripe Bowl belonging to a backup offensive lineman? (or anyone else for that matter)
