I really hope BW can keep his head up and stick it out at ND. He will get his chance and I'm sure BK has expressed that to him. Wimbush is going to be a good one.

Keeping him focused on the goal is going to be hard I believe. He is a very talented kid. I hope he sees the light at the end of the tunnel.

Geez. He wants to redshirt. It is the best thing for him in terms of maximizing his eligibility. The chances of him getting all the snaps in 2016 are so low compared to his chances of getting all the snaps in 2019 that it doesn't even make sense to talk about it.

Do people here think that all this has not been THOROUGHLY discussed with the family by Coach?

The only difference is he may have planned on fighting with Zaire to be the backup and get backup reps in 2016, now he won't be in that fight until 2017, and the two kids ahead of him will have TONS of starting experience.

Very cool for Brandon. Can't wait until he enters the very exclusive Heisman program.

He's in Mendoza? Had no idea. Great for him.
Yep. He announced it on twitter last year and seemed extremely happy about it. Crusader can probably share more.

That's really all I knew. When we talked with his Mom it was more about the general opportunity and expectations of what an ND education meant for Brandon, not what he planned to study. I know this made her a happy woman as well it should! That's quite an accomplishment and I'm very proud to be a fan of this program today.

Is he for sure "red shirting" this year? Gotta think Malik will want to transfer

For sure.

I don't see MZ transferring during the middle of the season. It's just not in his mentality to quit on his team midway.

"Quitting on his team" has nothing to do with it. He graduates in December and is free to go elsewhere after that. Makes zero sense to transfer now without graduating. I'd enroll in a new school as soon as ND's bowl game is over.

Kelly cares more about his job than Wimbush's redshirt. I think Wimbush era starts very soon and Kizer and Malik both transfer

If Kelly cares about his job, he's playing Kizer.

Yep. Kizer was off this game but has skyrocketed up draft boards and has played well this year. Why in the world would Kelly bench him for an unproven QB, especially when defense is a majority of the problem? Makes zero sense to play Wimbush.

Offensive problems are lack of a strong run block by our OL and inexperience in the WR corps.

Kelly wants to send a message and regain control. This is the boldest move he can make and I think he pushes his chips all in on this one...

Strongly disagree. If anything, that move looks like giving up on the team and prepping for next year. QB play is not what is hurting this team.

Are you high? Or drunk? Lay off the heroine with elephant tranq in it. You think he benches what several believe, rough last week or not, is the top QB taken in the draft for a guy that's seen little to no action and would then bottom out the experience level on offense on the field?

I understand and agree. I just get the feeling Kelly is on tilt and draws a line to see who is in and who is out.

Kizer is the starter. The problem has not been Kizer or the part of the offense that Kizer can control.

For all the talk about Harry Hiestand and his recruiting prowess, his offensive lines have not run-blocked very well. Whether the fault lies with Hiestand, Kelly's pass-happy offense, poor play calling, or somewhere else, the problem is not Kizer's fault. A team that stands at 1-3 cannot afford to dump one of its few positives, just because it is frustrated.

Everyone knows where the problem lies, and it isn't on the offensive side of the ball. Part of the problem has been eliminated with the firing of VanGorder. Hudson's impact is likely to be minimal at best. He will need time to install a new defensive scheme, and he will be gone or back to his analyst position before that happens. For now, he'd be better off working on tackling and instilling some aggressiveness. This defense has no fire, no leadership, no intensity. They look like the church choir out there.

Do people really think Kelly would bench Kizer? Everett literally handed the ball to opposing teams and didn't sit util the bowl game. It's coach speak. He is just sending a message.

NO chance to Kizer not playing, he is projected as the 1st QB in the draft next year. Malik will be gone after this year.

If BK plays Wimbush before the first game of next season, I will join those who are calling for his head. We are not going to win a national championship this season, and there is absolutely no reason to burn the redshirt for the future of ND. I'm all for playing any other of the young guys to get them valuable experience for next year, but since BK already squandered Wimbush's first year of eligibility on two meaningless games last year, he would be an absolute fool to waste his eligibility on a lost season this year. I may be the biggest Wimbush cheerleader on this board, and that is why I want to see him play next season with three full years of eligibility to lead the Irish. Kizer is a rock solid QB and MZ is a capable backup. Using Wimbush this season would be, perhaps, the worst coaching decision he's made to date.
