Whoever gets this kid is going to get a good one. His skill set is already high. The debate over who can develop him more should really be a debate about who can feature him more in their offense.

Army Bowl: East top performers day two

From 247:

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Day two of practice for the East team Tuesday in preparation for Saturday’s U.S. Army All-American Bowl saw the offensive line bounce back and play well against a special defensive line group, while several prospects made a case for a fifth star.

quote:
Alpha Dog

A mismatch vs everybody.

Savanah (Ga.) Christian Prep five-star athlete Demetris Robertson was the most consistent playmaker during the 11-on-11 portion of practice, and is easily one of the top receiver prospects in the Lone Star State. Robertson was a tough cover, very quick with outstanding ball skills.

There wasn’t a defender inside the facility who could check Robertson who is still developing physically. It’s absolutely scary to think about the type of player he could be after one year in a college weight room because he has the build to be a rocked up 195-pound player down the road. He checked in here at 175 pounds.

The nation’s top-ranked athlete according to the 247Sports Composite, Robertson is still strongly considering Alabama, Georgia, Notre Dame and Stanford among others.

from another source:

… Expectations were high for five-star wide receiver Demetris Robertson, but he more than delivered. He has elite speed. He comfortably won the 40-yard dash race between he and the rest of the wide receivers. He has the type of speed similar to what Will Fuller brought to the table. He had a few drops on the day, but for the majority, he was outstanding in all facets of the game.

I always assume he's going somewhere else when someone says "people inside the Gug" feel very good about landing a prospect.

I love when "People inside the Gug feel VERY good" about their chances with a kid.

To me, I feel like this always signals false optimism from the staff lol, and I don't think one of these has actually worked out.

It's only better than the opposite.

It sure seems that way a majority of the time.

He seems pretty high on academics. Which would lend me to believe it is a Stanford/ND battle. I think his top three are Stanford, ND, and Bama. I think this comes down to him getting into Stanford or not. Obviously his SAT's aren't good enough to get into Stanford yet and you all know how long their admissions process can drag out. Would he sign on signing day with Stanford not knowing if he has gotten approved yet or not? I doubt it. I think it comes down to ND and Bama. I think ND offers him the best balance of academics and football. He basically said nothing about Bama academics. He would get the best of both worlds at ND plus most likely start from Day one. If he does come though where does that leave Javon Mckinley?

This seems like a situation where the elite prospect has a lot of respect for our coaches and our program but in the end goes somewhere else.

Sometimes I feel like ND is the good looking girl who is really cool, smart, with a great sense of humor. Easy to talk to. Yet, in the end, gets passed over for the hot blonde cheerleader who lets you bang her right away and may let you have a threesome with one of her friends.

Tough convincing 18 year old boys to not choose banging the cheerleader.

LOL, this!! We'll be in it until the end, but he'll choose to go somewhere else.

What's interesting about this is the next SAT is January 23 and his score won't be available until after signing day as it takes around 3 weeks to get the results.

If he delays his announcement on NSD then we will know he is serious about Stanford. Somehow I don't see him doing that in the end however.

Can you imagine this offense with St. Brown, Robertson, and Javon. For 2-3 years, along with Sanders, Boykin, Claypool omg lol

Is it wrong to hope he doesn't improve his SAT score? I feel bad hoping he's capped out. He's intelligent enough for all the other schools, just go to ND, have a great life, the end.

The telling story to me is he will visit Bama again before signing day and Stanford... We have heard if we don't get him to campus again before signing day then we most likely wont land him and that is the position I am staying at.

What I'm terrified of is that Stanford does some "surprise! you're in!" reveal when he visits and he gets blown away and commits. In fact, if I was betting I'd say there's a 75% chance that happens.

Agree 100%, if for some reason that doesn't happen and he doesn't get into Stanford, I see him signing with Bama

I thought he had to retake tests that wouldnt have results back til after signing day. Doesn't that make this scenario near impossible?

Report on DawgNation has him saying Stanford leads. He also says he's going to pay the rush fee to get his scores back within 5 days of taking the test. He also says if Stanford doesn't pan out, his decision comes down to Georgia, Bama, and Georgia Tech. No ND mentioned.

Lol "sources inside the Gug" must be code for, "we know he isn't coming to ND, so we will just use a generic comment and construe it that ND is a real player, that way we keep getting clicks before NSD."

Anyone else pissed that he couldn't make the banquet? Would anyone have any doubt that he'd be Irish if he did since he's so close to choosing us and he hasn't visited since late August? I don't. Stupid ability to visit will IMO prevent him from being a monster for us for 3-4 years. Dumb.

If you want to understand everything that is wrong with Notre Dame recruiting, it's that you can have a kid DESPERATELY want to go to Stanford despite never visiting... yet if that doesn't work out, he's totally cool with an SEC football factory.

A lot of kids believe in what we have to sell, but we clearly swung and missed here.
