Gotta think Iowa earned the right to head to the Rose Bowl. That leaves Ohio State against ND in the Fiesta if I am guessing.

The flip side is that with the loss to Nebraska and without one of the most fortuitous blunders this college season in Ann Arbor.. Ohio State is playing Iowa last night. I've watched every Sparty game this year as I'm from Michigan and all my friends went to State.. Their defensive line can't fix their offense and secondary forever. CFP likely turns out really badly for them.

Ha, you sound like mgoboard! 99% of their board keep referring to how MSU is the luckiest team. I have Spartan friends too and have seen most of their games. If it was just luck, how do they win 11 games in 5 of the last 6 years? How do they have so many wins against top ten teams? How is it that they were the 2 of the last 3 teams to beat OSU? Yes, they squeaked through a number of their games, but they keep winning, and this year it was done with an injury list comparable to ours, except theirs weren't all season ending and they have gotten many back the last couple weeks thus trading off with their injured QB who even with his flaws will probably go in the first round of the NFL draft. At a certain point, you have to admit they have built themselves to an elite level or at least consistently very good.

PS...the scUM game...why do you think the guy dropped the ball? It wasn't a great snap, but it was catchable...except that eleven white jerseys were bearing down on him as the OLine couldn't hold a single block, plus it was only due to the kicker that they were leading (and the refs on a 12 second goal line run up the middle that most people outside or AA still doubt)

Anyone but Houston pls. Mobile QB and group of 5 of school with a great offense. Defense would be in trouble.

The move to 8 teams is inevitable. I don't understand the idea that it dilutes the regular season. You still have awesome matchups that matter because of rivalries and seeding and then you get to add 4 actual playoff games. Maybe ND-stanford isn't as vital as it was, but a rematch in the playoffs sure would be.

Begs the question...what would you prefer if you controlled where you went, Rose Bowl or National Playoff runner up bowl?

As a Hawkeye fan, I'd be pretty annoyed if OSU got the Rose Bowl bid over Iowa. They earned that bid. And an Iowa/Stanford game could be really interesting.

As a ND fan, an OSU matchup would be fascinating. It would be incredibly satisfying to smack them around.

Earned that bid how? They lost. Control of your own destiny is gone when you lose.

If conference championships are "THAT" important, Iowa won their division and made it to the championship game so they should be "technically" number 2 and ahead of OSU. Besides, OSU lost at home and gave up control of their own destiny more so than Iowa losing on a neutral site.

An 8 team CFP would feature this:

#1 CLEMSON vs #8 ND - rematch!
#4 OKLA vs #5 IOWA
#3 MSU vs #6 STANFORD - Rose Bowl
#2 BAMA vs #7 OHIO ST - 2014 CFP rematch

You add McCaffery, defending champs, and ND.

How can you argue against that?

I think we will beat OSU. Stuff Elliot and there is nothing left on their offense. We can score on anyone and we'll have Jones back at DT, a healthy Prosise at RB Russell back in the lineup and Smith and Day likely playing out of their minds in their last game wearing gold helmets. Plus OSU has been over rated the whole season.

Don't know if tOSU is over rated as they have only played one game that appears to match their expected potential. Should be a great game.

A championship run for ND would require wins over Clemson, then either OKLA/IOWA, and finally one of BAMA/MSU/STAN/OSU. Whichever team won out would be amazing.

What a joke.

Winner of the previous two Big 12 championships, Baylor played SMU, Lamar and Rice this season. The Bears have a home-and-home scheduled with Duke for 2017-18, but no other Power 5 opponent until 2023-24 against Utah. Since Baylor's schedule is filled out through the next three years, the earliest the Big 12 mandate will affect the Bears will be 2019.

I mean... fuck the Big 12, right? I'm with you there. But once this takes effect, the Big 12 schools will have ten power five opponents. We'll only have nine.

I'll take Navy over Kansas as a quality opponent though. It doesn't even really matter the year.

But they will probably lose like 3 or 4 of them on average.

OSU can't pass and pass defense is our weakness Our run defense is pretty good.

OSU is not a great passing team, but the numbers for Jones and Barrett combined are very similar to DeShone Kizer's stats. So they CAN pass, and if our defense takes the opposite attitude, OSU will hang 50+ on us.
