wow pretty late in the game.
It'll be interesting to see if this visit stays locked in.

That was the most god awful ND hat I have ever seen.
According to ISD he plans on visiting January 15th
Alabama MVP was linebacker Ben Davis of Gordo. Davis was in on 11 tackles and scored the game’s first touchdown on a 76-yard interception return.
Do you know how hard it is to find a ND hat in the South?
Either Davis is playing the game to it's full extent or he is serious about playing elsewhere than Bama. I like him more than L. Wilson so I hope we get him at the end of the day. If not, best of luck to him wherever that may be.
This...I'm not going to even think about it until that letter of intent comes in. Maybe even after that.per loy---after speaking w/ him on and off the record and also with a source ND is a LEGIT player for his services...

When was the last time we beat Alabama for a AL kid, on NSD, that's a legacy?
I give ND a .98% chance on this kid
The Jan 15 visit will be with his father. He said Denson has been recruiting him since the 10th grade and they have a great relationship. Denson told him that he will fall in love with it and he is excited to visit. "He thinks I’m going to fall in love with it, so I can’t wait."
NSD decision
A kid from Bama, January 15th in South Bend? Once his nuts shrivel up to the size of raisins...our chances become .098%
But I'll still hold out hope. Bring all the defense!
Wayne Davis has heard from schools all over the country regarding his son Ben Davis, a five-star linebacker recruit from Gordo High School.
And he's told every one of them the same thing.
"No matter who it is - Florida, LSU, Georgia - I'm pushing Ben to my alma mater," Wayne said on Tuesday, when Ben was presented his Under Armour All-America jersey. "I've been open with them about that.
"At the same time, I've told them also that I'm going to allow Ben to go through the recruiting process to make up his own mind."
And that's just what Wayne, Alabama's all-time leading tackler who spent two seasons in the NFL with the St. Louis and Arizona Cardinals, is doing. Both of Ben's parents are Alabama alums.
Ben Davis, who ranks No. 1 on the AL.com A-List, took his first official visit to Georgia over the weekend, and said he plans to make a return trip.
He'll officially visit LSU for its Nov. 14 game against Arkansas. Davis has made numerous trips to Alabama and Auburn, but those two schools will get official visits after the season along with Florida State.
"He gets the chance to sit across the desk with men like Urban Meyer at Ohio State, (Les) Miles down at LSU and learn things and mature as he goes through the process," Wayne Davis said. "He's going to have all of his official visits and at the end, he's going to make up his own mind."
But Wayne certainly hopes that Ben chooses the Crimson Tide. And Alabama certainly doesn't feel like it already has Ben signed, sealed and delivered.
"'Bama has been heavy on the recruiting of Benjamin just as much so as LSU or Notre Dame or USC or Georgia," Wayne Davis said. "They're heavy."
Wayne has been surprised that other schools haven't backed down in pursuit of his 6-foot-4, 230-pound son.
"Amazingly, they don't (get turned off)," Wayne Davis said. "I really try to be honest and open with them because I do tell them that Ben does like their school. He went down to Florida State and was absolutely amazed by it. He fell in love with it. Those Seminoles down there, they really impressed him. He's open."
Ben's stance on remaining open to all schools will stay that way until Signing Day. His father doesn't want him to announce a verbal pledge anywhere before then.
"I don't want him to commit because I don't like that," Wayne said. "I don't believe in it. They commit having not gone and seen other schools. It's good to have a relationship with the coach, but it's better to fall in love with the school itself. He's going to wait until Signing Day to make the school of his choice."
The recruiting process is nearing an end for five-star Ben Davis, but not before plenty of visits and evaluation.
The time is drawing near for five-star Ben Davis, one of the nation's most coveted recruits over the last few years.
Official visits to Georgia and LSU are in the books and he'll see the remaining programs in his top five -- Alabama, Auburn and Notre Dame -- this month before a nationally televised decision on February 3.
"I'm going to take it all the way to signing day to see where I'm comfortable and where I fit the best at," he said. "So this weekend I'm going up to Notre Dame, then Auburn and then the last weekend I'll go to Alabama. It may be subject to change with 'Bama and Auburn, they may flip-flop."
The in-state Tigers have been in on him for years and its latest hire of Kevin Steele brings more familiarity to the race.
"He recruited me at Alabama, also, and then he became my recruiter at LSU," Davis said. "And now that he's at Auburn, he still stays in contact with me. He's a great guy, a lot of people don't know that he went to school in Gordo. We maintain a great relationship and I can't wait to take my official visit down there to see how I like it."
The trip to South Bend will be Davis' first.
"I just want to see how I like it," he said. "I've heard a lot about the history, the tradition, they've won national championships, too. Coach (Autry) Denson has been recruiting me since my tenth grade year, so we've just maintained contact with each other. He says once I visit I'm going to fall in love with it, so I can't wait to get up there this weekend."
Tuscaloosa remains the local option, though it is now fresh off of a national championship crown.
"You know I watched that game, man," he said with a laugh. "I wasn't surprised...the defense played well and special teams really did well. I think O.J. (Howard) really came out and 'Bama just played 'Bama ball. I'm glad they ended up winning, that was my prediction.
"It matters. I'm a winner, so I don't want to go to a school that settles for losing. Winning is a factor in choosing a school, but at the same time only one school can win."
Many coaches from Alabama are now in Athens heading up the Bulldog charge, led by Kirby Smart.
UGA remains Davis' top school.
"I really enjoyed my trip to Georgia last fall, and now that Coach Smart is there it boosts them even higher," he said. "Coach (Mel) Tucker, he's a great coach, too, really knows his football. So I'm going to see if I can get back over there for an unofficial, but that would have to be during the week if I have to go.
"But me and coach Smart have a great relationship, so we'll see what falls into place."
Going into the process' final phase, Davis says he has a lot of factors to evaluate before a final decision.
"Just stay tuned on national signing day," he said. "It's going to be interesting."
Anyone think this thread is even worth a follow during/after this weekend?

This thread hasn't been worth a read since it was made. Kuddos to Denson for even getting him to make the trip, but that's all this is about. The kid respects Denson and is rewarding his hard work with a courtesy visit, nothing more.

From the Scout article BigHead posted above:
Notre Dame, Stanford, Duke, come to your door and offer your son the million dollar handshake and you openly push him to Bama so he can be like you... the all time leading tackler who got a cup of coffee in the League as a 9th round pick, a PE degree and a teaching gig in rural Alabama.
Why force your failed dreams on your kid to satisfy your ego?
.
THAT was well said. Made me laugh too.
