I watched "The Gunman" with Sean Penn. It had potential, but turned out really pedestrian. You can figure out who the villains are who are going to cause the main character problems right off the bat. The action sequences were OK, but too few and far between when you have a not very interesting story. It was like a watered down "Bourne" movie.

I can't wait to see Spectre or the Peanuts movie... I love this generation of Bond flicks (best ever imo) and it's very rare we get a movie that EVERYONE in my family wants to see together like the Peanuts one... honestly this may be the first one since my youngest became of movie theater age.... great family day there...

just saw it the other day, and I really enjoyed it. Locations were great, some really great camera shots, great cars, great action and fight sequences. A little bit long and plot was a little bit over the top, but hey it's a Bond flick afterall. Christoph Waltz was great, but felt he was actually under used.

I'd put it ahead of Casino Royal and behind Skyfall. Very good movie though imo, and Daniel Craig is hands down the best Bond in my opinion. Casino Royal, Skyfall, and Spectre were all very good to great. That Quantam of Solace one was an awful piece of shit, but 3 out of 4 ain't a bad hit rate.

Craig is under contract to do a 5th Bond, but apparently he hates the role. Would be a shame to see him walk away from it, he's just so damn good at it.

Watched peanuts and thought it was terrible.... Might have just been me though. Me, the 3 kiddos, no wife and 2 days post vasectomy.... Nothing about it was enjoyable....

I watched "Elite Squad: The Enemy Within" last night. Really good movie made in Brazil. It's about the head of Brazil's military police narcotics force BOPE, but more generally, about the politics involved in narcotics enforcement in the slums of Rio. The main character is played by Wagner Moura, who plays Pablo Escobar in "Narcos." Moura has such a commanding presence for being a physically unimposing guy. There are lots of strong performances in the movie, and it's a very interesting story as well. It's subtitled from Portuguese so you have to pay attention. It makes me think of Michael Mann movies, like "Heat" and "Miami Vice." There are some tense action sequences but I wouldn't call it an action movie. I didn't even realize it was a sequel until going on IMDB after watching it. I really want to watch the first one.

I thought Spectre was awesome, aside from a few "are you really that dumb?" moments that literally reminded me of Austin Powers, both on behalf of the bad guys AND James Bond.

I have a hard time trying to rank the movies, because they all are different.

Casino Royal felt closer to an oddball Bond flick than anything, IMO, and it was entertaining throughout. Also, yes to Eva Green. So it was my favorite.

I really liked both Spectre and Skyfall as more pure drama/action flicks, and they had a bit less of the Bond goofiness. They would be 2a and 2b for me.

Quantum of Solace wasn't bad IMO, it just doesn't hold up to the others. It was an "okay" action movie.

agree 100%.

Never thought I'd say it when the casting was announced, but I think Daniel Craig is the best Bond. Never thought anybody could one-up Sean Connery, but I think he actually has.

When they announced them I rolled my eyes... and didn't see Casino or Quantum until long after they left theaters and when I finally watched them I was very surprised... I liked Roger Moore growing up too... but this era Bond makes Moore's Bond seem even more goofy than he originally was...

I did see Skyfall in theaters and thought it was great, the going back home to Scotland ending was super cool, as I too am a transplanted Scot... (now that I think of it Bond and I have a lot in common... ;) )

The story for spectre just wasn't there for me.... if we have this mega boss that has been controlling the past 3 then he went down way to easy. And the whole 00 agents going away was already done in the last movie. The opening of spectre was the best part of the movie amazing movie making there if you ask me and the stunts were great.

I definitely see where you're coming from.

Still think it was a very good flick though. Craig's performance in the role was great, the fight sequences, car chases, and stunts were top notch. Lots of great locations and cool scenery, and all that jazz that you'd expect from a Bond film.

was it the greatest story or plot? probably not. but I've seen far worse in the franchise.

I really liked the movie, and my one main gripe with it is not enough Christoph Waltz screen time. He's way too good to be on the sidelines that much.

Most of the Bond flicks are on HuluPlus right now. I watched "The Soy Who Loved Me," which is probably the best Roger Moore entry in the series. And Barbara Bach, rawrrr. I also started watching "A View to a Kill." It's been a long time since I've seen it. Man, it's bad. Moore was too old and looked it. The movie was too foolish, campy, and dull. It had arguably the worst Bond girls. Tanya Roberts was a light weight dumb blonde. And Grace Jones was just, weird. After watching that, I can see why they went hard in the other direction with Timothy Dalton being Mr. Super Serious 007. Dalton wasn't a good Bond, but his movies helped shake most of the Moore era goofiness off the franchise.

Vegan Bondy parody film? Now there is a hashtag game for twitter!

PS: License to Kill wasn't bad and could have been very good with a few tweaks....and Talisa Soto? cue Homer drooling gif

You fail to give love to "Live and Let Die" again, I'll bleed you, real quiet, leave you here,.... you got that!?!

Seriously, "Live and Let Die" is on the Rushmore of Bond films... anyone who argues that is a Timothy Dalton fan...

Agreed.

Without looking into it too much, my Mt. Bondmore consists of:

Live and Let Die
From Russia With Love
Casino Royale
Thunderball

honorable mention For Your Eyes Only because it's in Greece. Also love Never Say Never Again even though it's an unofficial Bond.

Favorite Bond film of each of Connery, Moore, Brosnan, Craig (even Dalton if you want as he did do two)...

Connery - Thunderball
Moore - tie...Live and Let Die, The Man with the Golden Gun
Brosnan - Goldeneye (Tomorrow never Dies a verrrry close second)
Craig - Skyfall (haven't seen SPECTRE yet)

Dalton - License to Kill

The chick from Skyfall was stupid hot, like unbelievably hot, but was only in a couple of scenes really... Solitaire is def a fav of mine but more so to do with her character than her looks... the Main girl from Octopussy was like that too... much more complex than most Bond girls...

I saw "Steve Jobs" yesterday. I thought it was basically really good, although I have a love -hate relationship with Aaron Sorkin because, although the wittiness of his stuff is great, the over-the-top, over-dramatic, overly wordy speechmaking annoys me.

Still, don't quite get why it's doing so poorly, when the Social Network did so well.
