Who wants the Miami coaching job? Butch Davis? Great idea for the Hurricanes. Hire a coach who is familiar with Paul Dee, Nevin Shapiro, the NCAA'S Infraction Committee and how things are done in Coral Gables. He is the best choice to keep Miami on the straight and narrow and to maintain Miami's unblemished reputation.

Maybe Bobby Petrino is interested, too.

No way would i hire him. He is a crooked as any coach in the SEC or Meyer. Miami doesn't have the cleanest rep out there. I would say it may look like a good hire but down the road it will hit them hard.

Could we have asked for a better bye week? GaTech over FSU and USC over Utah to move us up a few spots.

Pitt is getting the job done, hope they can handle UNC this week and stay on course to win their division.

Duke game was a fun finish. Good to seem them getting respect as well.

I guess its OK to be called the Joyce Center, but I still think of it as the Notre Dame ACC (Athletic & Convocation Center)...

...whoops sorry i guess you mean the Atlantic Coast Conference...never mind

Man I remember UM peps just burying Davis during his first go round, hell even on the 30 for 30 they were still talking mess about the Davis era... now they're wanting him back?? the mighty have indeed fallen.

UM will need to change the culture. What made Miami special can no longer be replicated. The game, rules and branding has changed since the late 80's and early 90's. I actually think Golden was the guy to do this, but the culture problem wasn't the football team, it was the fan base and admin. If that doesn't change, it won't matter who is the coach.

BTW, Golden was, I believe, the 47th highest paid coach. Miami doesn't have deep pockets either.

Among ACC QBs against FBS competition, Everett as a 12 TD to 1 interception ratio, the third highest completion percentage - 67.1%, second highest yards per game - 237, and the highest QB rating -151.

Kizer has a 10 to 4 ratio, 65.4% rate, 195 yards per game, and a 156.9 rating. Not bad for a redshirt freshman. But also consider that ND'S SOS so far is rated 12th and FSU is 26th.

Matt Jones, Virginia, has 12 TD TDs to 12 interceptions against FBS teams. Best game was against us.

I am betting that they go after Cristobal, if they are insistent on getting someone with a connection to UM.

Davis is just holding out hope that he gets a shot, and I do think he gets an interview, at least.

Is it wrong that I look forward to this article each week?
This Week In Schadenfreude, where it's Florida State anger vs. Miami anger - SBNation.com

Comments from FSU and Miami fans this week.
My favorite from a FSU fan: "My four year Old cried last night. He runs upstairs crying saying 'Florida State didn't win daddy!' It really bothered him...They better fix this shit and soon! My son deserves better than this! "

and from the Miami side: "Am I the only one that thinks this loss is awesome? I mean not only do we suck, we REALLY SUCK!!...damn, what does it take to get fired from Miami?"

“I think they should have to join a conference if they expect to be in the big show at the end and play all the teams that the rest of us play in those Power 5 major conferences,” Narduzzi said Wednesday night in response to question during his radio show on KDKA-FM. “The NCAA's let them have their cake and eat it, too, with the TV and NBC deal they got there. I think eventually it will happen.”

Wow, how about play someone, Narduzzi, before you start opening your mouth. Iowa is the only team of note on their schedule so far and this year the B1G West is even weaker than usual.

Dabo is another ACC coach who has strongly advocated that ND join a conference. But it is far to ask where Clemson would have ranked if they had not played Notre Dame. Unless of course, he would like to have ND in the ACC to improve their SOSs.

In a recent statistical analysis, Clemson's SOS in games played so far is rated 68th, including the ND game as well as Wofford and Appalachian State. Clemson's SOS may not improve with games against Syracuse, Wake, and South Carolina left in addition to the Florida State game. Will this impact Clemson's seeding in the Playoff even if they stay unbeaten because the Committee is rewarding SOS?

As points of reference with the Big 10 unbeatens, Ohio State's SOS is 50th and Michigan State's SOS is 52nd. Baylor's is 38th and TCU's is 43rd. ND's is 3rd.

If ND joins a conference, will I care? No. But the fact that so many want it to happen out of hate makes me pray that they never join one.

When these Power 5 teams, with supposed conference and national championship aspirations, stop playing "exhibition games" against FCS opponents, I will listen to their arguments. Until then, I have little care for their posturing.

Pitt's playing 9 power 5 schools just like ND, so I'm confused by his comment.

I clearly said FCS. I have no problem with teams playing MAC, AAC, MWC, or Sun Belt teams a couple to a few times a year. I have a problem with Power 5 teams playing FCS teams and counting it towards their possible 13 games and b!tching that ND only has to play 12 games.

I think he was talking about Narduzzi's

I think they should have to join a conference if they expect to be in the big show at the end and play all the teams that the rest of us play in those Power 5 major conferences

those coaches who say that need to shut the hell up when you STOP playing FCS teams then we'll talk and besides our sos being independent is probably better then yours playing who ever we want when ever we want

If Notre Dame joined the ACC...

If Notre Dame joined the ACC...

Coaches believe Notre Dame Fighting Irish, other independents should all be in conferences

ACC coaches Beamer, Florida State's Jimbo Fisher, Clemson's Dabo Swinney, Pittsburgh's Pat Narduzzi and NC State's Dave Doeren all told ESPN that Notre Dame should be in a conference or have to play 13 games per season
.
Time to revisit the ACC coaches' wishes...

We go to the ACC full-time. The ACC would have sixteen teams, adding Notre Dame and Navy. (Army could take Navy's place in the AAC.) Two of the three independents would be in conferences.

The Irish are placed in the Coastal, since Clemson, Florida State, and ND in one division would be ridiculous. The ACC would go to a nine game conference schedule with the two cross-divisional games. We'd play NC, Pitt, Miami, Duke, Va, Va Tech, and Ga Tech (7 games annually).

Our cross-division rivals would be Navy and BC because of our history with them and to preserve the other schools' wish to continue to play their traditional conference rivals. (2 more annual games).

We include a FCS school, an in-state P5 school (Purdue) and USC. Our twelve game schedule would be similar and, for the most part, recurring.

The championship game gives us thirteen. We have to be fair, right? I'd play that schedule anytime.

Notre Dame has lost independent luster, should join conference soon - CBSSports.com (Dennis Dodd)

Be careful what you wish for.

Hell now it's giving in to these jagoffs who want to get rid of tradition in football, scheduling has been done the right way for years, the acc needs to stop allowing scheduling with FCS teams

If anything, this season proved that our independence is safe for the foreseeable future. If other teams decide to remove the Savannah States and Coastal Carolinas from their schedules, and replace them with actual D1 teams instead, then we can talk. The playoff committee gave ND a lot of credit for its body of work, so those other whiny coaches can keep crying and worry about themselves.

love how these acc coaches bitch and moan about this, after they AGREED to the current setup.

if you were so against it, the time to speak up was when you had the chance--so they can all just STFU thank you very much...

cant wait to finally pick off one of their top CFP contending teams.

it will happen. eventually...:)

I don't know the exact stats, but most of our ACC opponents had bye weeks before playing us this year. Coincidence? I think not.
