"Eye test" is also reflected in statistical measures where ND is second overall to Clemson. Noteworthy is ND's Offensive Efficiency ranking of fifth which is behind only Baylor and ahead of TCU. ND's SOS against opponents played so far is ranked third with Alabama, LSU and Stanford in the teens. (After those three, there is a significant drop in SOS)
BTW, NM State is ranked 126th out of 128 teams and Kansas is 125th.

Clemson and Notre Dame and only five other teams have reached the 90th percentile performance in four games. The others were Alabama, LSU, USC, Michigan and Tennessee.
