I'm just a regular Joe with no sources but as a life long Giants fan, that would be a true stunner and something I just don't see happening. Assuming TC doesn't retire, they would look for a more established NFL coach and most likely one who already has NFL experience.

Yeah I would be beyond shocked if they hired a college coach. It's one of the most desirable jobs in all of the NFL. They wouldn't have to settle for a college coach.

I still don't think it's crazy to think that BK checks every box on the Giants' checklist outside of the prior NFL experience. I hope that he remains, but losing a coach to the Giants is not bad. It's better than losing him to Florida or the friggin Eagles.

Its probably been too long but I remember when Bill Cowher was thought to be the front runner but then TC won the Super Bowl in '07 and put that to rest. Gruden was another one who was thought to be holding out for the job. I doubt either of those this time around but I definitely expect them to go with a more established NFL coach.

The reason Mike linebacker Nyles Morgan has played limited minutes as a sophomore has little to do with his ability to learn the defense or put himself in a position to play.

Rather, Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly insists Morgan’s lack of playing time has to do with the importance of fifth year senior Mike LB Joe Schmidt. Two weeks ago Kelly referenced the situation where freshman wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown is struggling to find a place in the rotation because junior WR Will Fuller is too valuable to remove at X-receiver.

Kelly’s mindset involving the MLBs appears similar.

“Well, you know, Joe has been a cleanup hitter for us, if you will, and we don't want to take him out of the lineup,” Kelly said of the captain. “We feel very confident, if Nyles was asked to go in the football game, and I know talking to (defensive coordinator) Brian (VanGorder) about this, in particular, that he's just handled himself extremely well. He's been very impactful on special teams for us and he's ready to go in and play for us.”

Schmidt, who led the Irish in tackles a year ago with 65 through eight games before suffering a season-ending injury, ranks third on the team with 41 after seven games. Schmidt also has three tackles for loss and two sacks.

Kelly and the defensive coaches have lauded Schmidt’s ability to relay signals from the sideline to his teammates and align the defense before every snap. Schmidt’s communication skills were sorely missed when the then-freshman Morgan replaced him in 2014. But the Irish, who are 13-2 in games Schmidt started, and their coaches are content leaving Schmidt in the game.

“I think we're just feeling very comfortable keeping Joe in the lineup, having not had him for so many games last year, we want to get every snap out of him that's possible,” Kelly said. “I think it's really less about Nyles and more about keeping Joe on the field.”

This quote is in the context of talking about Kizer stepping in for Zaire:
Sometimes you just never know until you put those kids in those situations

Seems like it would pertain to non injury replacement as well. But, maybe thats just me.

NFL talk
“I think it’s like anyting else,” Kelly said of the annual rumors that he might go to the pros. “You always have those thoughts (about coaching in the NFL), but when you’re at Notre Dame, it’s just one of those jobs that really never gives you any thoughts toward doing anything else. I love where I am. I love coaching college football. And I think the one thing you can do here is you control the payroll – which is the scholarships – you are the GM, you get to recruit the players you want and you get to make the final decisions. You’re the owner. Anytime you get control over those three things at Notre Dame, that seems to be the best job in the country.”

I wish there was some series of events that could result in us getting Harbaugh. 3rd and 1? First and goal? FULLBACK DIVE.

Red zone offense, red zone offense, red zone offense. It has GOT to be better. Temple making some good plays but RZ offense is Always a thing year after year.

ESPN just tweeted that ND has more red zone turnovers than any other FBS program...They also have the most over two seasons.

This should be a blowout. Horrible red zone play. Unreal.

Do you see a theme yet?

This is a yearly thing.

I just saw what he did to Grimes....

I'm sure Grimes did something wrong but BK's reaction was ridiculous.

Just saw it too... I need to see the whole thing or sleep on it, because my initial reaction was really bad...

Head coaches do stuff like that all of the time, what are you talking about?

OSU had one of their all time greats punch an opposing player in the head.

Seeing this closer I wonder if grimes was having a verbal altercation with the ref and bk set shit straight?

grimes is another coach, or grad assistant, not a player, however young he is. we don't know any specifics of the situation.

I can't imagine the type of pressure kelly is under during a sold out road game where nothing is going right.

I'm sure he'll smooth it over with grimes and move on, lets cool it before we give him the death penalty.

Am I the only one that thinks Longo made the situation look worse?

Coaches bark at coaches all the time, but Longo made it look like he was a boxing ref.
