Whole lawsuit is bullshit. NOT an athlete... just a kid looking for a pay day and trying to shame some football/basketball players and ND into a couple million.

Again... plaintiff NOT an athlete.

That's a pretty aggressive statement for Notre Dame. Would suggest they know this is baloney.

There are some real pieces of shit in this world. I hope they release the accuser's name after this fairy tale is picked apart.

By South Bend standards, this a reasonably well respected firm. Also the way Indiana's notice pleadings works its pretty common to have pretty vague and cryptic complaints.

Whether it's cryptic or explicit is pretty irrelevant because it's absurd on its face. There is no series of details that can inject plausibility into a story wherein a university employee forced a male college student to have sex with her daughter (apparently repeatedly) and to CONVERT TO CATHOLICISM against his will. That's crazy shit.

Separately, I've never heard of Notre Dame having professional tutors (academic coaches) like this. They certainly weren't the norm. I did some tutoring myself and even the varsity athletes I hung out with were tutored by upper classmen and grad students.

I think we all get that...pretty straightforward.

Reputable firm taking the case.....but they all make mistakes from time to time.

I just don't want any coaching staff involved or to hear about this for months on end.

Comes down to what Notre Dame knew, when they knew it, or to what extend they should have known the alleged acts were happening. Since the university issued a pretty strong statement, I am sure they are confident they have done what is needed to satisfy their responsibilities. The tudor on the other hand... may have some issues. At least that's my understanding of how allegations like these play out. Maybe the IE lawyers can comment.

I don't understand how he could be forced by a tutor to bang the tutor's daughter. If he didn't want to, it's not like she's the only tutor in the program, so why couldn't he just have complained? There's no way I can think of where he could not have just stopped going to this tutor if he is just a poor, innocent boy being taken advantage of for being black. Either he pulled some shit and the tutor was blackmailing him or the whole thing is bullshit.

on ESPN bottom-line already

Have we established what this has to do with the football program, exactly (if anything)? I'm clearly not understanding exactly what is being alleged (not for a lack of trying).

I'm sorry I'm out right now not really reading the thread. Last I heard this was being painted as some sort of athlete forced into sex or whatever.

The only thing that remotely involves athletics is that some other players were banging the same girl... the idea that anyone was "forced" is beyond stupid, as are the racial claims. Just ridiculous but some people will do anything for a pay day.

The complainant is trying to involve them to embarrass the university into settling. The only thing that involves players is that they're eskimo brothers.

The claims themselves are borderline unbelievable. But if they're true, he certainly has a claim against the tutor (though he's likely going to face a lot of skepticism about how much of it was actually coerced, given the gender reversal here). As for ND, everything will hinge on how much it "knew or should have known".

Maybe it's naive of me, but I can't believe any lawyer would risk their license on something this crazy unless they had some sort of underlying basis in fact. Assuming for a second everything in the pleading is true, seems like there's a strong argument that the University is liable under respondeat superior even if they did not know what was up. Still crazy though.

There's nothing in there that makes me too worried about the football team, unless it comes out that they were all being encouraged by this tutor to run train on her daughter, which is more bad publicity than it is an NCAA violation, I think.
