Apollo? Is he the youngest St. Brown?
I think many non ND fans would have zero clue he played for ND...
I think a few IE members would be in the same boat. Remember the "Who is Terry Hanratty" discussion from a year or so ago?
I remember several years ago someone from the media was going around tailgates before a game and asking Irish fans questions about our tradition. They tossed some softballs, like "What do you think of when you hear the name Joe Montana, Knute Rockne, Lou Hotlz," etc. It was surprising to hear the average fans struggle with some of the other names that were thrown out though. Hanratty was one. Paul Hornung was another. Some people were scratching their heads at "George Gipp." Embarrassing, to say the least.
Reporter: what do you know about George Gipp?
15 year old fan: not much. he died 80 years before I was born........
Does anybody have a resource where one can learn more about the lore? I know Gipp and the big names, but would love to learn more. Or do I need to go to NDNation and listen to them tell me about how turf is evil before I'm worthy?

Yuengling is up north in coal cracker country about two hours away. Philly has Yards Brewing and a few other small joints.
George Washington died almost 170 years before I was born. Doesn't mean that I've never heard of him, or can't tell you that he was a Revolutionary War General, first President of the United States, was handy with an axe(chopped down a cherry tree), reportedly never told a lie, and had wooden teeth.
But I agree, the casual young fan probably knows very little about the origins and early lore of ND football.
The Lager still flows pretty strongly in Philly.
Right down the Schuylkill River through Reading to Philly of course.
Yes sir. When you come down bring some goodies from the Port Clinton Peanut Shop too haha
