I don't keep up with NFL draft talks very well... What are the chances he leaves/doesn't leave? I've always known he was fast but his ability to get behind some 5 star talent against USC seemingly at will made me question if he's gone for the first time this year.

I know some people are saying that he isn't a "complete WR" at this point because of his tendency to drop the easy stuff, but I could see him deciding he could improve that on an NFL roster.

Anyone know of potential draft grades/rounds he's getting?

I think depending on what he would run he might sneak into the late part of the first round but he's a 2nd or 3rd round guy. Reminds me a little bit of Devin Smith last year with his ability to be known as a deep ball receiver. I think he should come back next year and improve on his route tree.

I've seen him in the first round in many mock drafts. He's a consensu top 5 wr along with Treadwill, Boyd, Mike Thomas, and TCU's Doctson. I would say he's at best a fringe 1rst rounder and worse case scenario would fall to the 3rd round if he declares.

Unless he has avery good chance to be a first round pick, he shouldn't leave early. I don't think he is a first round pick, not yet at least. I see him as a 2nd-3rd round pick right now.

He catches the ball with his body and to be honest, he is kind of a one trick pony. He is great at catching the deep ball but is average with other routes.

Your statement about him being able to improve his craft on a NFL roster is true. But a GM is not going to spend a first round pick praying that a player improves on every route besides the deep route.

For his own good, he needs to stay

If he came out right now he would be a second round pick. I doubt he returns after this season.

I think this is one of those situations where the Rookie limit may hurt us. It used to mean a lot more to be 1st Round pick, but nowadays a kid makes his money on the second contract, not the first.

I agree I think he could be a first rounder if he came back though. Honestly the biggest issue I see him having his needing to get a lot stronger. He's so used to just blowing by guys in college that are going to be able to jam him in the NFL unless he gets a lot stronger.

The money difference between a first rounder's contract and a second rounder's contract is millions though. I could be wrong but I think the difference is pretty significant.

But if he thinks he is ready, more power to him. We have so much damn talent at receiver that we shouldn't skip a beat

I do think there's a chance we get him back, based on the hands issue as well as the size. That said, I don't think anyone really has a great sense on Fuller's attraction to ND itself--obviously played a role in other guys coming back. Does he feel it as well? We'll see.

Most mock drafts I've seen right now have him right at 32.

As far as his speed, we've known he was fast. But this last Saturday he showed another level to me. In a straight foot race with USC's fastest guy he pulled away. Not like a step over 50 yards, but like 3 or 4 steps over 15 yards. It was eye opening.

It's so nice to see an ND kid just torch USC's best athlete.

I think being tall and having good size is overrated in the NFL. Considering the best receiver in the league is 5'11" and offenses are really trying to throw it all over the field now, having good size doesn't seem to be a necessity to be a #1 receiver

Right now I see him on the exact level as Devin Smith from Ohio state last year. Phenomenal over the top but very average on the short to intermediate routes. He's a late first to second round pick currently due to his ability to go over the top

Agree with both of you. I was amazed that he just ran by Adoree. Didn't the announcers say Adoree was nationally ranked in a few olympic events? or something along those lines?

All I know: Fuller is one of the best diamond in the rough recruits I can remember. He was listed as the #172 WR on ESPN (if memory serves).

I don't disagree with your point. But I think it's worth noting that Kizer is definitely still learning the finesse and accuracy needed for short and intermediate throws. Clearly has a great arm and can throw a beautiful long ball.

Yeah sorry I meant more in the weight department than the height. Right now Fuller's main contributions are the go route and the screen, and that screen isn't going to be very doable at 175 pounds against NFL linebackers.

It may be. But it's not overrated by NFL scouts and the people who decide who gets drafted when. Fuller's small. He's fast, but that'll mean less on Sundays. He's got very good deep ball skills and is good at moving in traffic on bubble screens and such, but his intermediate game could be better.
I also think Notre Dame players (and maybe guys from other high-profile programs) tend to get over-rated in mock drafts, especially relatively early ones like now. If he's 32 in an ESPN mock, he's probably really looking at late 2nd/early 3rd after the scouts have had a chance to parse every freak wide receiver from a directional school.
Again, no shame in that, and he's probably done growing at this point, but Fuller may benefit from waiting a year.

It's been a little disappointing that we're not finding ways to get Fuller the ball more often. There were a number of times he was open Saturday, but Kizer either had to run for his life and couldn't make the throw, or he just didn't get to see him. USC did a great job finding ways to get Juju and Adoree the ball, we need to do the same for Prosise when teams are loading the box, and find ways to get Fuller the ball period.

I don't want it .... I don't want it .... I don't want it .... but I think that SuperWill is gone to the NFL after this season. He is REALLY good and better than we still give him credit for. He terrorizes every DC except arrogant ones [like USCs.] Even Dabo knew he had to double him [and if Deshone could have seen both halves of the field better, he'd have seen Will WIDE open numerous times vs their so-called AA corner --- Will could have turned him into a poster for being burnt in the mid-field].

We're whistling in the dark about him coming back. Maybe we'll just get dumb lucky like we did with Ronnie, but we'll "miss a beat" without him. Kelly's offense plus great Quarterbacking will mask it, but that beautiful sight of SuperWill flying is going to be missed.

I agree with all of this. But I think ESB might prove to be special! (Most of the recent, great ND WRs have done relatively little as freshmen)

There have been multiple rookie wr's have lots of immediate success in the nfl recently. Will will take the top off of defenses on Sunday and that is rare. I thought he would be back next year, but I am changing my tune. Fortunately we are loaded at wr but wish we could get a recruit with Will's speed...

There was no consensus before on his draft position like say Stanley and Smith are both Top 10 guys but after separating from Adoree and giving up any of that separation, there will be.

What makes him so unique is how sneaky his shift to OD is. He puts 2 strides on ANYONE effortlessly. It's like magic.

That translates at the next level. Is he a complete WR? No, he doesn't have great hands but them feet is gonna make him rich and NFL CB's skeeeert.

So has every top 20 team over the past half century and I can't tell you one at the moment who gets behind people like Will Fuller does.

Related to that... Mackensie Alexander might be as good as he says he is.

Because he catches the ball with his body, he is lacking one skill that EVERY NFL team is looking for: a guy who can go up and high point the ball before a defender does. That is going to hurt him big time, I think.

Agree completely. It's rare to have a WR that can run past a 15-20 yard cushion with ease. We should all enjoy it because Fuller is a luxury, they ain't making many of his kind.

Walter Football has him going 2nd round, #42 overall to Cleveland

Earlier in the season Kiper had Fuller at #20 overall on his big board

I want another season with Will as much as the next guy.

But idk if I could use a 20th overall pick on him. His hands and highpointing are still major concerns for me. I see this type of players as more of a "dime a dozen" type of player. I mean, look at what the Colts did with Dorrsett. Complete misuse of a draft pick.

I could see Will as a great homerun threat at the next level, but idk about an every down player. Thats what I would want if I were drafting 20th.
