The thing is, the only reason I have a subscription is because of the articles. The pics are a bonus but they don't really make much of a difference. Like the man said, you are seconds away from seeing any sex act you want on the internet.

That's basically what I thought. Playboy will be the next FHM/Maxim.

I wonder if this won't increase their sales in the long run. Obviously they'll lose a lot of business from the people that bought it just for the nudes, but they have a point that free nudes are all over the internet at this point and have been for ages. By going PG-13, Playboy can now distribute in places they couldn't before, like grocery stores and gas stations. They'll be losing some business, but increase their availability.

I'm wondering what's been keeping Playboy afloat since the web has really taken off. As others mentioned, it's not like it's difficult to find airbrushed nudes on the internet. They do interview some high-profile people, but how many readers are really looking to Playboy for that insightful interview of a big deal celebrity? Maybe it's the nostalgia factor? Or that Hef's brand has really resonated with a new generation of reader's because of the "Girls Next Door" show. I'm really surprised the mag is still going at this point. I guess they're doing something right.

I think people still are collectors and enjoy getting their subscriptions. I think some guys in frats love to buy them to have in the house dropping a deuce. I think Playboy also still made a killer when they had those high profile centerfolds for the first time or something. (Big celebrity)

The real losers here are the kids. While access to your flavor of the week porno is convenient, finding your old man's stash of Playboys is much more satisfying. I remember finding my father's collection and thumbing through the pics of Drew Barrymore's 1995 spread. That was quality bush.

I haven't heard anything about Heffner being sick other than the typical maladies that come with being 89 (limp dick, arthritis, leaky bladder, etc.). His daughter to over running the company a long time ago. Not sure if she is still involved.
