Obama thinks that it isn't fair for the US to get involved in other countries. No one fears him as commander in chief. I believe by Obama choice.

Prepare for a rocky road coming up.

Thats actually un-....fare. Republicans have controlled both the house and senate since the beginning. anyone with half a thought process can see this.

Did we learn anything from Iraq, Iran and Egypt? Those countries operated best when a brutal dictator was in power. They tend to be predictable and dependable. Leave them alone and let them do their thing. It's cheaper and neater.

It would be nice if we didn't need anything in the Middle East.

I believe that we should expect better from ourselves as a nation. It's too much like saying, "they seem happy together, so what if he slaps her around every once in a while when she gets out of line." Do we need to send in the troops every time? Probably not. But we can't just wash our hands of the situation and say "screw 'em."

So true. If we had left Iraq alone, we wouldn't have to deal with this ISIS crap right now.

Yep. Renewable energy is a national security imperative. The best way to avoid a fight is to walk away from it. Unfortunately, oil and war are the among the biggest of big business incentives for the status quo.

I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.

I like the analogy but I would tweak it a bit...We are at the bar, one person slaps another. Is it our job to break up the altercation? Potentially ending up with a bottle broken over our head, stabbed, or jumped from behind? No. It's the bouncer's job. America is not the bouncer.

One major difference being "if he slaps her around a little" he is breaking the laws of the country we live in. We should not necessarily expect of ourselves as a nation to try and determine the laws and rights/wrongs of somebody else's country. Our morale code is not their morale code, and there is no absolute creed written determining that ours is correct or right. It is only "right" because we believe it to be right. I think there is always room to support those in need, ie: sending food or supplies to a nation in need, etc but who determines we have the right to go in an enforce our will on other countries or tell them their way of doing things or their morale code is "wrong". You may not like that your neighbor uses corporal punishment on their kids, but if you go into their house uninvited and try to change the way they police their house, you are still trespassing. Despite how completely narcissistic this country has gotten, there is nothing wrong with good ole fashion minding your own business once in a while.

If only they didn't cost a bajillion dollars.

Next March you can pre-order the Model 3 starting at $35k. I'll have one.

There's a charging station right by my work and I'm surprised by how many cars use it. Sales must be pretty good. My son did a calculation and said the price of the existing models versus his payment and gas consumption is a wash.

I've seen quite a few in my area, and the closest charging station is an hour away. Not sure if it was merely a coincidence and I saw several people in Teslas just driving through town around the same time, or if the numbers are growing and the hour drive to charge isn't really a hindrance.

There are only two plausible outcomes for Syria. Either a foreign power props up Assad and some measure of stability is regained, or Assad falls and Islamists rush in the fill the power vacuum. We've already seen this exact same scenario play out in Iraq and Libya.

There are no "moderate" rebels longing for truth, justice and the American way. It's either stability under a brutal dictator, or chaos under ISIS. Good on Putin for supporting the lesser of those those two evils where our own liberal utopianism compels American presidents to opt for an impossible third option.

Assad is a bad guy, but that's basically inevitable given the evil he has to keep a lid on. It's worth noting that before we decided to "free" Syria with some strategically placed Tomahawk missiles (really "smart power" there, Hillary :jerkit:), Syria's 1.1 million Christians lived in relative peace. Since then, thousands have been tortured/ crucified, and 700,000 have had to flee the country.

YUP. I was watching the Putin interview on 60 Minutes and he was saying all the right things.

Putin may be saying "all the right things," but his goal is simple - expand Russian influence in the Middle East and the world. I think he will come to regret getting militarily involved in this big steamy pile of @#$T!

ISIS presents a far greater threat to US interests in the region than Russia does. If Putin props up Assad and helps kick ISIS out of Syria, that's a net win for the US, even if it comes at the cost of increased influence for Russia.

If it's basically Russian friendly, I say let them waste their money trying to clean out ISIS in Syria and keep an eye on them to make sure they're not continuing to just target the anti al-Assad people. Put pressure on them to actually wipe out ISIS in that region. If it's basically Russian puppet state they should be the ones to fork over the dough for the operation anyway.

Don't be fooled by the reporting on this. War hawks are already complaining that Russia is targeting the "good" rebels instead of ISIS. There are no good rebels. This is Assad v. Islamists.

I was simply stating that if I was Putin I would have stayed out of this Syria mess (for now) and let us do whatever the hell we are doing. Not a whole lot to be gained and a lot to be lost.
