I like Mayock. He has such great knowledge for Xs & Os. Regardless I love NBC for ow reason, Notre Dame football. They host our favorite team gentlemen.

Yea...I just wish they could do so consistently well.

Just my opinion, but if they treated pre game, booth, post game like they were a required element of ratings...it might be consistently good.

As it stands, I feel like they know we are coming, and check a square with the broadcast elements around the game.

I don't know how producing a gameday broadcast could be fun unless you were constantly trying to kick your competition's ass...Can't imagine morale on that production team. NBC's commitment/effort has seemed to suck for a long, long time.

Tell you what. He may not have gotten the football skills from his dad but that kid is pretty damn good at being in front of a mic like his father.

I think he might have to put a couple of years on the road but would love to see him in the booth at ND in the future.

I seriously can't believe with how much money NBC spends to broadcast these games, that they don't put better talent in the booth. It's unreal. Just pathetic.

I'd be okay with the younger Collinsworth calling games in the future. He struggled a bit in front of the camera when he first started, but I think he's grown into it nicely as he's gotten experience and done his homework.

Brought my 42" down from the bedroom and put the ND game on it.

On the Living room TV, put TN vs FL since my buddy's TV is on the brink.

Short conversation before kickoffs (ND and TN started at same time)

Buddy - "Dude, we can listen to the ND game and turn down TN game"

Me - "It's cool man, I don't mind at all"

Buddy - "But it's your house. Really man, we can listen to ND"

Me - "I hate Doug Flutie's Voice."

Buddy - "Ok man, just want to make sure"

Me - "No really - I just don't like Flutie at all"

Best game I watched so far all year!!!!

I don't mind Tom Hammond but Flutie is unbearable. He doesn't even have any X's and O's to support his musings. I use musings in a loose sense as he adds zero to the discussion.

If I remember correct, he called a few games last year and was borderline homer for us at times. Flutie is not that bad. I'm positive he's been given orders to call the game as an independent and It's hard not rooting for the underdog in yesterday's scenario. The GT game kinda irritated me. Tom Hammonds voice is ND football as far as I'm concerned. I still have him and Haden in my head from that USC game in 05'. Glad to hear him in the booth.

It's all what you grow up with. Tommy Hammond has been the voice for 20 years. Is he as good as he was in the 90's? Probably not. I broke into baseball with Harry Caray and the Sox in the 70's, was he a hot mess by the end with the Cubbies? Of course. Was the sound of his voice like a bowl of your Mom's chicken noodle soup when you were sick? Absolutely.

Tommy Hammond's voice is like that to me. Who cares what he looks like or how he pronounces Amir Carlisle's F'n name. Dude will be a HOF broadcaster someday just like crazy HArry Caray is. Celebrate his idiosyncrasies and quit pining for loud mouth, annoying Gus Johnson who makes every first down sound like Bobby Thompson just won the pennant.

Hammond, Mayock and Flannigan is as good as it will ever be... though Tappen isn't bad at all, she's great for the NHL - she's just not Alex in my eyes.
