MLB this cycle with the way the season ended. Especially if Bilal ends up at Safety.

You saying it... that's good news!

Last I read, it seemed to be IE's CW that MLB recruiting was no Kirkland if Coney signed. I always wanted both, Kirkland ahead of Coney for the record but as long as Coney stuck, I'd have been ok with Kirkland going to anywhere but SC.

I'm for taking guys and moving them up (aka, safety to linebacker), but not a fan of moving them back (HS linebacker, safety in college).

I would agree 9 times out of 10 but IF Bilal can keep it at or around 215lbs and not lose any speed he COULD be a SS. That would put him in the John Lynch or Darren Woodson size category and if you were ok with Harrison Smith playing safety in South Bend with his 4.57 electronically timed speed, you should be ok with Bilal's 4.55 electronically timed speed.

While I agree with the premise of what your saying and I'm sure you know this. Its more about fluidity of hips, change of direction, agility, etc. Could he play SS at the weight of course but I don't see anything on his tape that makes me think he can compete in our secondary against teams like USC, FSU, etc. I'll add that I think the world of Tranquill and think he has a bright future but if he is too stiff for S then I'd be really concerned about Bilal.

Totally agree.

I haven't seen him play and I'm no expert on knowing who's gonna be a good SS. To me, it's the most mysterious position on either side of the ball. My COULD was meant to be taken as a 'maybe could'. On physical size, some of the best SS in history have been his size.

As with basketball, it's important to know what a guy grew up playing. Did Bilal grow up a big kid, playing line then moved back to LB as other guys grew into the line position or was he 5-10 till last year, playing running back and DB then move forward?

I have no idea and I'm sure the staff will be able to sort it out but if allowed to dream... I'll take a 6-3, 220lb SS with 4.5 speed. Why yes I would!

Not sure. McElwein might have just given the remaining staff the green light to offer anyone they wanted to try and get a class together.

...or sent a new offer list to a guy he is going to keep on staff. Good psychological move to give an immediate call to the available recruits that Florida wasn't in the mix with before. The recruits then get that warm and fuzzy feeling they are special to the new staff.

McElwain is going to look like a God when Ivey, Cowart and Jefferson sign with him. #1, #4, #5 in the class. A lot of other top 100's are Florida leans too.
