My ban for freeing Pat has nothing to do with you coming on here to start something. Myself and no one on here had a back and forth, fight, pouting match, or anything alike. I don't like BVG's play calls that result in DL in coverage. Many people don't. Everyone who's posted tonight has probably had at least one complaint about play calling on some level or another. You need to grow up and stop trying to start ish with me every other day for no reason. IE doesn't care for the drama.

Where have I screamed about the game, our strategy or cried about our injury misfortune? All I have done is ask people that are obviously freaking out to chill. If that's too wild for you, then by all means... Proceed.

I don't like drama, period. I stand by every word in this thread. I don't want our DL dropping in coverage. That's not knee jerk, we saw it last year in the bowl game too. It's not inflammatory, it's an opinion (shared by more than me).

And you're not calling me out on anything - I called it out on my own. You're just trying to start something again. Stop trolling, it's a waste of everyone's time.

ND was about a 6 point favorite coming into this game pre-season. Then we demolished Texas, and the line was inflated. I told everyone that would listen that this would be a close game and the question would be whether ND could pull away late. Virginia had a top 10 or top 20 defense by all metrics.

So ND goes up 2 scores and heads into the 4th quarter without Malik. To that point, we were thoroughly dominating Virginia despite:
1. Having horrible passing execution from Zaire.
2. Having horrible red zone offense.
3. Virginia getting lucky as hell on one drive and solving their red zone woes.

ND wins this game by 3-4 scores with breaks going the right way. I see no evidence of coaching deficiency except for some play calling and the fact that our CBs seemingly can't cover mediocre skill players in man coverage.

One thing I saw repeatedly today, and I'm interested if anyone else noticed it, is that Johns threw a ton of balls balls off his back foot and completed a ridiculous amount of those throws (a dozen, maybe?). It just seems like even though we weren't getting home, we were making the QB make throws that are usually very low percentage throws. So the fact that he completed so many of these is probably partially bad luck, partially bad coverage, and partially that however good Johns is overall he seemed good at doing that specific thing which is generally suicide for a passer.

We'll see. I think Kizer can be a Tony Pike type of gunslinger. And I KNOW that BK can simplify the playbook and call a masterpiece each week to help out his backup QB.

I do NOT know if the defense will get any better. Johns played out of his mind today, but Butler and KVR (and Luke a few times) looked bad. Also, Joe Schmidt still looks to be a step slow.

Time for BK to channel his inner 2008 UC BK and become the QB Whisperer.

According to ESPN, ND is the only 2-0 team that has both wins against Power 5 opponents.

Yeah, not sure if he was choked up at the beginning, but you could tell it stung a bit when he talked about his relationship with Malik and how he feels for him going down like this. I think he said all the right things though when it came to Deshone, and I hope Kizer steps up in a big way until Malik can recover next year.

1. Re BVG: I have said it before and I will say it again. if we don't get pressure on the QB his system sucks. Too many holes. Too many skinny posts open. I am done with him. Seeing Day drop back into coverage while blitzing Schmidt is too much
2. Re Offense: There was lots of poor execution all around. I still don't know why we suck on the road so bad.
3. I just don't think BK is our guy. I was selling at the end of last year and I am sold now. I predicted 9-3 this year, that looks realistic but 8-4 is moreclikely with the defense. I hope that this was his one WTF BK game and we won instead of losing.
4. GT is going to reach inside this defense and show them their sphincters.
