We did Disney World in April, renting a mountain house in Stowe with my parents next week, then back to Disney this winter.

My "vacation" was a work trip to Sarajevo, Belgrade, and Prague, back in April. It technically counts as vacation because, although the trip was for the same company that I work for, I had to take time off from the normal contract that I work on, to go work on the overseas contract.

I'm going Cancun in October for 5 days with my girlfriend. First time traveling internationally. I am excited for the all inclusiveness, beach, and Mexican food.

Spending a lot of time in da UP. Hard to beat that for the money. Cabins for a hundred bucks a night, a thousand miles of beautiful, pristine beaches, fantastic weather, waterfalls, lighthouses... What more could you want?

Did the Disney thing in May (were there for my daughter's soccer tournament). Rafted/kayaked through the Grand Canyon in June. The wife and I went to Germany (she's German) for a week in early July.

This was an unusual Summer for us as we normally travel more during Spring and Fall breaks.

Never been out of the country but have done Mt. Rushmore, different spots in the mid-west for family reasons mainly… honestly most of our family getaways have been Vegas or the obvious stuff here in So Cal as we are right next to all of that… We are talking about taking our first major vaca with just my wife and kids… Gettysburg, Washington and if possible South Bend for a game... but that's just in the pre planning stage right now, maybe fall of 2016 or 17

How the hell does one get away for 6 weeks? Are you young? single? I bet that was an awsome trip.

Orange Beach, AL coming up this october for a week.

On the money man. We try to get up there at least annually.

I went to Evansville Indiana to see family and had a team reunion in New Buffalo, MI over a 10 day period last month. Go back to Arizona every 2 months or so to make sure it's still there and besides that, nothing in the last year... only game I caught was @ ASU last year.

Getting up in Laguna Beach each morning and driving to Carlsbad for work really drains your ambition to spend money on leaving here. Plus, it's where they keep all the beer.

This fall though, I'm in for Texas, SC, BC and Stanford if it's for a playoff spot. If they get in then it's Miami or Dallas on New Year's Eve and back to Arizona for the NC game. So I'll see three for sure and 6 if we're lucky.

Agreed to deliver a vehicle for a relative that is relocating. Driving from Chicago to Dallas, then out through west Texas (2 nights at Big Bend National Park during the peak meteor showers). From there over through back roads of New Mexico/Arizona up to the Grand Canyon. on to a layover in Vegas, then up to Lake Tahoe, and finally delivery in Reno. Fly back to Big D.
Fall trips include SB for UT, GT, SC games. Hope to do some fishing on Lake Michigan on the SC trip.

This is the first year I've been able to travel overseas in a while. Spent two weeks between Portugal, Spain, and Vienna. It was an excellent trip, and has whet my desire for more. I would like to get back to Spain next year for San Fermín and Basque country.

Aside from that, perhaps a weekend in Chicago here, a weekend camping the Nordhouse Dunes there.

I've been there for very limited time, but I loved it. I'm eager to hear more about it though from Johannes

We typically go camping in Western North Carolina or Northern Georgia at least twice in the fall. Plan to do so again.

Disney World is horrible. Universal Studios is much, much better. Going to LegoLand in a few weeks.

Vienna is the most dense collection of art, architecture, history, and music that I have ever experienced. It was the last leg on my trip, and the only one where I was not traveling with friends. That is my one regret, as it truly is a place to share.

I decided to focus my time there on music. I attended four performances in three days: Beethoven's Fidelio at the Staatsoper, the Luxembourg Philharmonic at the Konzerthaus, the Vienna Boys' Choir singing Mass at the Hofburgkapelle, and some touristy Mozart nonsense at the Musikverein. The venues in Vienna are incredible. I would put seeing an opera or a reputable orchestra there on anyone's bucket list, an absolute must experience. Just be sure to book a month or two ahead of time. The Boys' Choir and Mozart claptrap were fine, but I could have done without them in retrospect. The latter was just to experience the Musikverein, and I didn't realize what I was getting myself into when I bought tickets online. If you're unable to catch the Vienna Philharmonic (which can take some planning) or similar there, just take a tour.

Between the Museumsquartier, neighboring Hofburg Palace, Belvedere (do not skip this), the rest of the Innere Stadt, Secession, Schönbrunn Palace... you will not be left wanting in terms of things to see and do. The architecture rivals, if not surpasses, Paris in its variety and quantity. Don't hesitate to walk between sites, but don't forget their excellent subway system either. Vienna is not known as a European culinary capital, but it certainly holds its own. I wish I had spent some more time in the Naschmarkt. I do not regret the extravagant breakfast at Meierei am Stadtpark. In my brief experience, Austrian wine is much better than Austrian beer. If you need a break from cultural overload, you can take a walk along the Donauinsel, in one of the many beautiful parks, or find a seat in their famous coffee houses.

As you can see, I loved my time in Vienna. :eek:grin: But I loved Spain even more! Here are a few random photos from the trip, for the curious:

I used to fly into Vienna on my way to Bratislava (for work). Spent half a day there, but that was all. Always regretted not heading back over there for a few weekends.

Yes, very. My favorite time there was in December. The whole month is a celebration/party. The square downtown is a Christmas fest the entire month. I can't remember the warm wine drink (local name), but fantastic time. Our corp security would only let us stay in two hotels, and had a driver with bullet proof 7 series the entire time. Totally pimp lol and was so focused on work that I didn't see opportunity presented. Looking back I should have done a lot more site seeing around the area and jumped around for long weekends. Had a ton of fun though. Talk about some beautiful fit girls... OMG!

stayed here. so freaking nice.

Love your pictures, what did you like more about Spain than the rest of the places you visited. Have you been to any other European countries?
