This is why ND has to win this year. Most kids when given the chance want to date the head cheerleader or the homecoming and prom queens. It's a fact of life.

This one hurts but it's a long time to NSD '18.

OSU is gonna role the big ten for the foreseeable future unless harbaugh can somehow get Michigan to be a consistent 10+ win team.

scUM being better would make OSU's recruiting more difficult, but also ours. I think I'd just as soon go head to head with OSU rather than OSU & scUM.

Maybe Robert Beal can get him to flip...then they can both work on Kaindoh...

He's a tweener in more ways than one. At 6-2, it's not hard to see him a rocked up 230-240 down the line. What i find interesting is he skipped the 40 times and had only a 32" vert. He doesn't reek of 5 star athletic talent like Okudah.

yeah kind of sounding like he is maxed out w/ athleticism/speed etc NOW and that it doesn't appear it will continue to expand....curtis grant

Do not need more Motta/Tranquil type players.

Article says he will graduate in December and then be immediately eligible. But, he'll only have 1 year, 2020, of eligibility left.

Why would he only have a year left? I heard 2 and assumed it was because he'd be sitting out the rest of this year.

Don't know, didn't write the article, ;)

I think it's two years as well but again just stating what was in the article. He only played in 3 games this year.

Graduates in December 2019, eligible immediately, and has 2 seasons of eligibility left in 2020 and 2021. I'd go all in on this guy ASAP. Gives you a big safety/rover prospect that could step in next to Kyle Hamilton or provide cover at the Safety and potentially Rover spots!

One year or 2 years or 2 games, I don't care. We need a DB with a chance of covering any of the Clemson WRs next year.

To be fair, if he was playing that well right now, he wouldn't be the 3rd string at OSU. New scenery, new system, and new coaches can all have an impact but this isn't some guy that's been dominating NCG's. He's getting passed up by a younger player.

Agree but we have a body shortage after this season. No recruits in the upcoming class, and a graduate player could be a perfect complement to Hamilton's youth. We just need a steady guy back there while we work on recruiting a replacement.

Can he also play RB?

Seriously, I don’t love the idea of taking OSU’s leftovers either, but this seems like a no-brainer. Experienced talent with potentially two years of eligibility at a position of extreme need? Go get him.

I'd definitely explore the possibilities but there's a difference between taking that approach and/or saying, this is a no brainer because he can compete against Clemson's WR's. (which would be solely based off of his HS ranking of 3 years ago) We've seen nothing of the sort since then. The back end of that defense was awful last year.

To the bolded we have 3 DB commits (with more coming) and at least one of them will plays S. It'll be just based on who picks up CB the fastest/best, all seem have the requisite skillset to also play S.

It could be that one of the CB plays DB, as they are tall rangy type players. But I am not sure we don't need all of those bodies at CB also. I think we are missing both body count and impact players built to specifically play safety. I am not sure CB conversions to safety always work out that well, and the two positions are not always that interchangeable.

Of course getting a good 4 star safety recruit could change this conversation, at least 2 years from now. Where does that leave us next year, however, when our two starters leave. Brown isn't a great fit and himself a position convert. We need to recruit true safeties and using graduate transfers in years of depth concern is a legitimate strategy.

I have no issues with what has been said other than the idea that this guy is walking in and competing against the best WR's in the country. If he was doing that, he wouldn't be transferring. Pretty simple. Again, maybe a new staff and scheme help him get there. It wouldn't be the first time.

Is he a better fit than Derrick Allen? I know they’re not the same class but if he can compete for 1st team reps, it’s worth a look.
