Lucky we just aren't going to see eye to eye on this. I realize we can make the playoffs without him I'm saying ND needs to start landing these kids. That's all, and it sucks because our safety recruiting has been lately.... I think we all know

I really feel like you are missing my point. I think OSU out worked us for him and it has nothing to do with us getting into the playoffs. I'm saying ND needs to start landing kids like Pryor if they wanna get into the playoffs. It's not like it's a cake for safety recruiting for ND so when it seems like we got out worked for one that was on commit watch for us it stings but like you said there are other safety's in the class I guess.

Also, I don't even remotely believe this. If true we wouldn't have been the leader up until his recent visit. They've gotten the most recent visit and a visit that went well. What would you like the staff to do, tell him and his family they can't visit OSU or else we'll put them on house arrest.

Look at the NFL draft it has a bunch of 3* and even 2* players taken who develop into elite prospects. Pryor is a major miss dont get me wrong but we will be ok.

Notre Dame is still very much in this and the Pryor's even reached out to the Irish coaching staff today, in fact, to firm up plans for the Sept. 5 visit vs. Texas.-LOY

Put it this way, if we miss on all good S prospects in the 2017 class then lets burn this bitch to the ground. I don't think that happens. Plus our DB recruiting right now looks good. Those star gazers won't be happy but if can land this group, I feel insanely confident that they can play winning football with competent coaching.

Who was a 3 star talent, what about this don't you get. Did you watch tape of Mariotta and see 5 star because not many people did, obviously.

Here's the point, yes we need to get players like Pryor. The good news is he's not the ONLY ONE capable of playing at that level, period.

Why are you so worked up about this? All I am saying is missing out on Pryor is a much bigger deal than a shrug of the shoulders response.

Yes, I am aware he isnt the only one capable of playing at that level but what have you seen from ND lately that tells you we can land this type of kid at safety? Our safety recruiting has been horrid, that is a fact. When you get a great chance to land an elite one and dont, its going to sting. Pryor is the number one guy on the board in 2017 for safety, is he not? Having come that close to securing him and then OSU swoopes in with one visit and our now "far and away the leader" is disheartening regardless of who is still out there!

I believe I stated this above. Wholeheartedly believe that to be true. Studstill, Becker, Cuffee, Okeke, Pryts, etc. can be a defensive backfield that is good enough to make the playoffs. Are there things to be concerned about, absolutely, but we don't need to flame everytime a good prospect goes elsewhere.

Dude....you had me the entire way (seemingly losing a super-stud safety that was all ND absolutely blows, sorry lucci!), but to say we got outworked? How? How did we get to the lead in the first place? With the coaches sitting on their collective asses? C'mon man.

If a kid falls in love with another school on his visit, especially one that is on fire right now, explain to me how that is getting outworked. I don't see that at all. If we gave up and stopped calling him, then I'd see your point. But with Loy's report that the Irish are still in contact, obviously that isn't the case.

This sounds like a very interesting type of recruitment.

Seems like an impressionable kid after each visit.

This one may go the distance.

My first post on the topic was that this sucked. However, the collective flaming about how this is how we make the playoffs is way overdone. Plenty of players that can help us get to the playoffs.

I wouldn't necessarily say that. Its been an OSU/ND battle for a little bit now. He's an ND type kid but OSU has the mojo. The reason I say this is, he's visited many other schools and hasn't left them as his leader.

I don't think it's flaming when you are voicing your opinion and someone disagrees with it.

I think everybody has some good points about their posts but none of them are totally accurate. Will it suck because we missed out on a 5-star safety that appeared an ND lock? Sure it will. But I haven't seen him verbal to anyone yet. He just came off a visit with a very good recruiter on the defending national champions and one of his top two teams. Let the excitement die down and see where he stands. I do not believe he is looking at committing in the next week or two. If he still has OSU as his leader in a few weeks, I will be disappointed, but lets not freak out until the "change in leaders" has been established for awhile. I also agree 100% that we were not outworked. We were his leader for a long time which means we did many things right. Hopefully, after time away from the red carpet treatment, he remembers why we were in the lead and we are back on top.

Not sure we got out worked but life is tougher when you miss out on these players.

It makes the margin for error even smaller at a place like Notre Dame where the margin for error is already small.

Saying we'll be fine and other guys can play winning football too isn't really saying much, IMO. I mean who can play winning football? You can say that about virtually any recruit.

At this point a year ago Eason was a legacy, Josh King was a strong lean and Auston Robertson and Mack were in-state locks.

It is what it is.

That hurts to read that. I remember reading those exact sentiments and allowing myself to believe them. I wanted King and Robertson so badly in this class.

Coach D thinks this could be OSU trying to cash in on their momentum right now as they a pressing for a commitment but that this usually backfires in the end...ND will continue to pursue if it is OSU next week
