Pete is one player I am very curious about. Do any of you insiders got any details? I know his reps will be limited with day jones cage Hayes etc, but how has he progressed so far...

From what I heard he was way behind and pretty buried depth wise. Like in over his head football wise.

I thought he was better conditioned and really started to pick it up at the end of spring.

He was always years away from being in shape and ready to roll. A true project but a great project to mold

ND has a lot of great projects to mold on the D-line but still hasn't been able to bring in ready to roll impact elite guys since the 2011 class

How many elite, ready to roll DE's, were there in freshman class across the country last year?

I think Tillery can be a great player, but if an offensive tackle recruit that no one knew could even play on the defensive line is ND's top "elite" defensive line recruit since 2011, that says a lot.

Pretty sure it was known. The services all just classed him as a higher impact OL.
Going to be a stone cold DL stud for us

To add, he's bigger than Day already, almost as big as Jones, and with a higher motor it seems than both.

To go off of this, he played a lot of defensive line and LSU was even interested in him on the defensive line.

Always so critical of my posts, it's no secret ND has really struggled recruiting the D line with difference makers like most championships teams that we so badly want to be

with our riches at OL, wouldn't mind seeing a couple more converts. we've got some nasty guys on OL that will likely never see be starters.

I am because it's the same story every time with no information to back it up. It's just complaint or sarcasm after complaint. Answer the question and think about it logically.

Fact, last year was the only year under Kelly where our D struggled.

I'd still be willing to bet dollars to doughnuts (pun fully intended) whiffing on Matt Elam won't be a regret anytime soon.

Fact, ND has signed 7 top 250ish DL over 4 cycles. Is that enough no but it's far from struggling. It's more than quite a few team that are winning a lot of games. We just need to develop them. Wow, I sound like a broken record because I've said this so many times to count but it just goes over some heads.

I suppose Bama needs to recruit more "elite" DL because there D has been smoked a few times in the last two years.

Not to mention a lot of the best recent college DT were rated on the low side as recruits. Terrence Cody, Will Sutton, Nick Fairley and Star Lotulelei, for example, were all low 3 stars. It's a crap shoot when dealing with guys that heavy, seeing who actually has a motor against guys just as big, and that doesn't happen until college.

Agree. I thought Lynch was gonna be far to small to play NFL and I was wrong. Also look what a hernia (right?) did to Tuitt. It basically killed his junior year. Thank God he went beast mode in 2013 on USC haha. He was unstoppable.

Based on what exactly? Talk?

Spring practice. He came to campus in great shape, and looked like an elite DL. There aren't that many 6'7 300 pounders who can move like he can. He'll probably have some things to improve upon, but he's got the makings of a special player down the road.

Yep. The coaches were effusive in their praise for Jerry this spring.

spring practice, talk by the services, talk by the coaches.
size, conditioning, motor, college ready...
already assumed #2 on the depth chart by most services.

Enough talk. Trust me, I would LOVE for him to be great but i wanna see it first before believing the hype.

That's just how it is dude. It's all talk for every program. I'm sure Auburn fans are just as excited to see Byron Cowart produce in year 1. There's nothing wrong with that, and Tillery has looked physically and mentally way ahead of schedule. That is the main reason for excitement.

You're on a talk board, it's the summer... and you expect what....
Wish I could jump into my hot tub time machine too. Right now talk is all any of us have with a sprinkle of spring practice vid/news..

Yes, we have brought in 7 good DL or rivals 250 kids over the years. Do I think any of them are great or elite? No, I think Trumbetti and Tillery will be good ones though which Tillery a shot at being great. Still my point was difference makers to play at a elite/ high level right away.

What a perfect development for the struggle between the cup half full and cup half empty crowd, a muratureeum on proper spelling, and talking! Will it be enforced, by a boycout, a blokade, or a enforcement office?

PS what's going on with that Mokwuah guy?

With all the knowledge being thrown around this thread, I would think someone would have something substantial/
