My understanding is that you can get around a school's attempt to block you as a graduate student transfer if the following conditions are met:
1) You have a degree.
2) You complete a waiver detailing how the school you're transferring to has a graduate program that your current school doesn't have OR you weren't admitted to.

Given that Texas is a large state school, my understanding is that it is quite easy to pick a program that ND doesn't have and use that as your excuse with pretty much guaranteed success.

I'm not positive that all of the above is letter-of-the-law correct but I knew someone 2 years ago who transferred as a graduate student and that's what he said he did.

haha yeah remember when Jeremiah Masoli transferred from Oregon to Ole Miss to study for a Masters in Parks and Recreation management aka the Ron Swanson Degree.

Oh boy. I haven't uttered the words "Tatu the Amazing Midget Quarterback" in quite awhile.

I don't think FSU puts near as much on the QB, or Fisher has an uncanny ability to tailor to who is the QB. His QBs rarely look out of sorts for an entire game.

I think EG will be fine there with his precision and strong arm, and elusiveness...I think his release is faster than Winston's so he'll do some quick hits ...with FSUs athletes thats gonna be brutal on defenses. I have no doubt he is your starter, and I expect him to take them to the ACC championship.

yea, true. The backup was in over his head in that game...and Fisher didn't seem to have an answer...lets say the last three starters never really seemed too out of sorts across an entire game...

"Second chance." He didn't lose his chance with us. Dude would've been the starter against Texas, and he still walked. That's what cheeses me off about this. The lack of chest.

I don't want to agree (but I must agree) even as Golson was my guy-this whole thing came off ugly and it doesn't show well for him as a Notre Dame man-maybe he isn't a Notre Dame man but I'm sure he'll light it up this year with FSU. As for me you couldn't get me to transfer even if they named Zaire starter, no why I transfer from South Bend.

What does that say about Zaire if Golson is only third string at FSU?

A published depth chart in mid-July is pretty funny.

A July depth chart factoring in transfers is useless. That said, EG was overhyped even in his best days at ND IMO. A lot of folks will look like studs when following Tommy. Loved them both for what they did for ND, but it's not like they were AAs. EG had some good games, but he also had bad ones. And he also had a lot of talent around him. I think people will start to see what an ND QB should look like this day in age over the next decade with the overall talent improving in all O positions. It would not surprise me at all if he started, or did not see the field at all... will be interesting.

Start the booing...

lol, the FSU backup against Clemson last year was horrible. Golson should win the spot easily if that is any indication of their QB situation.

Just a formality for a grad transfer. He's going to start.

He's going to look weird in that uniform...Zaire has a solid arm and I think we can win every game on our schedule with him but I'm going to miss Golson's cannon. Even 3rd and 20 last season seemed manageable with his arm...

I feel very confident you won't miss Golson. Zaire has a stronger arm, but needs to work on his short game. Alot of Golsons deep balls were a little shakey at times. Zaire seems to have a passion that the team responds to. Not going to miss Golson walking away from Kelly when he would make a bad play. This is no doubt my opinion and easily argued but I'm very optimistic because of Zaire's character.

Most coaching staffs honor their vets until the actual practice competition begins in earnest. It would be pretty naive to think that Golson was 3rd string and begin to get hysterical about that.

I can already see it now.

"Golson proved that he wasn't afraid of competition. He left the Notre Dame starting QB role to compete for an opportunity at Florida State. He started third on the depth chart and rose to claim the starting nod. Gritty. Determined."

just picked up FSU/GT tix last night. I typically try to take in one or two GT games a year. Normally I cheer for GT to support my neighbor. Still not sure who I'll be cheering for this year.... lol.

Easy, GT. Golson made his choice, and FSU doesn't need any more love.
