Funny that we're the home team .

Well, there's certainly a lot of Catholics in Boston, but this is the Catholic Civil War here. You're right...this is definitely in BC's backyard, seems strange that it's a home game.

BC.. The prototypical "any given Saturday" team. They'll be ready for a dogfight in Fenway.

I'd like to see our boys put this one away early.

I thought they had an O line full of 5th year seniors this year. If that's true, I like our chances.

The battle lines for Boston College’s matchup against Penn State in Saturday’s Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium will likely be drawn in the trenches. That’s where a critical skirmish line will be established between BC’s irresistible force of an offensive line, which features five graduate starters with a combined 121 career starts, and Penn State’s immovable object of a defense, led by fifth-year senior linebacker Mike Hull, the Big Ten’s leading tackler with 134 stops.

Booked flight for my wife and I today. I have never been to Boston before and am super pumped to see the city and the game in Fenway! Don't have tickets to the game yet, but flight and hotel are ready!

Are you a big donor? Booking travel this far in advance might be a bit ambitious. This is going to be one of the toughest regular season tickets EVER.

Unrelated travel tip to anyone considering it: fly into Manchester or Providence.

$175 for endzone, $225 for sideline. Not bad.

ok, an interesting idea but wow, nothing to gain for ND and everything to lose.
This will be the second coming of the Boston Tea Party for BC.

Except that ND controls the ticket supply. BC is getting like 3,000.

Point is, what is there to gain with a home game with a conference rival in their backyard? Much rather see the Shamrock in Houston, New Orleans, Dallas....where talent is gushing.

Even kids from Houston, New Orleans, and Dallas are going to think it's awesome to see a football game in Fenway Park. I think the "play where the recruits are" angle is overblown TBH. Sure, it's a consideration, but I think recruits care much more about how cool it is to play in professional stadiums than whether the stadium is geographically close to them.

maybe so. real small venue, late in the season when weather won't be great, travelling to the East Coast for a home game.....why not play them in Wrigley or Cleveland?

Wrigley is a horrible place to play a football game because they can only go to one end zone or at least thats what I remember when I think Northwestern and Illinois played there. I think this game will generate a lot of national buzz if we are having a good season and will be great for recruits, alumni, and fans in general. Those ticket prices are not too ridiculous hopefully I will win a couple in the alumni lottery since we have already booked our travel.

I was at the Purdue game in Indy last year, and while there was a sizeable Purdue group it was nothing crazy. BC's fan base is probably smaller than Purdue's, anyway, and while we are obviously farther away from Boston than Indy there are plenty of ND fans in Boston, CT, NY, etc. Not worried about the crowd situation. A bigger problem might be the field surface, which caused lots of slipping, kicking problems, etc. during the Pinstripe Bowl game in Yankee Stadium.

I am dying to go to this game, hopefully the tickets will work out. And I'm not worried about this being close to BC at all. I was at the BC game in '12 and at least a third of the fans in the stadium were ND fans. And that game wasn't in BC's backyard - it was in their stadium!

Right. The only way there's any sizeable contingent of BC fans is if ND alums sell their tickets, which would be embarrassing . This is almost guaranteed to sell out in the alumni lottery and the BC allocation is extremely small. Past Shamrock Series games were far from sold out so the opposing fanbase had the opportunity to get tickets at face value because so many were available after the lottery.

I am an alum and I always seem to miss out on the lottery. I get every email from the athletics department about every other sport it seems, except for this one that I actually care about. I hope I can get tickets for this game because it is an awesome venue.

Only 1/3? I was also at the game and couldn't believe how many ND fans were there. I remember feeling like it was clearly a majority ND fans. Much closer to 2/3 than 1/3 IMO.

This will be a heavy pro ND crowd, especially considering the ticket allotment for each school. I also think there's a good chance some of those BC tickets will find their way into ND fans' hands. I hope to be one of those fans but not holding my breath.

Past Shamrock Series have been played at large venues. This will probably be the smallest stadium ND has played at in half a century.

BC doesn't have any fans other than BC alums. They are a pariah in Boston.

This. They weren't even selling out games when they had Matt Ryan and were undefeated late in the season. Same thing in basketball when they got off to a 20-0 start in 2005 and were ranked #3 at one point. The city of Boston really is very weak in regards to how much it cares about college sports than aren't hockey. Great pro sports city, horrible college one.

Place will be a minimum 75% ND fans. And it will be awesome. It's Fenway. This game will have recruits talking more than probably any other SS game.

Yeah 1/3 is definitely my conservative estimate. It probably was at least half if not more ND fans. That was awesome. Really all BC had was their student section making any noise or cheering for them.

Some excerpts below:

The game is considered a home game for Notre Dame, so Boston College has just a 5,000 seat allotment to sell. To get tickets through the school, you have to either give over $5,000 a year, have given $100,000 in your lifetime or currently have season tickets. The current season ticket-holders will be placed into a lottery.

Those who want four tickets to the game have to give over $25,000 to the school. So not only will the tickets at face value cost a car payment on each, they require have a donation that could buy you a decent car. Of course, when you have enough money to be in that donor classification, what's $400 a ticket, right?

In case you were wondering, season tickets to Boston College's home games start at $176. The season ticket packages includes a game against Florida State, so you and a friend can see the Seminoles and six other home games for less than it would cost for one ticket to see Notre Dame.

We'll be looking forward to seeing what tickets go for on the secondary market as the game gets closer.
