Love duolingo, their iPad/iPhone app is pretty great. I just started Italian which is totally useless except that I'm trying to learn for a visit with my family over there that I have planned for September. Learning new languages has always been something I've wanted to pursue more, so this app is really exciting for me!

I'm waiting for them to add Chinese. I've taken Latin and German but I think Chinese is the most fun/interesting. I took it at ND and then on the side in grad school, would love to practice some more. I haven't found a free site yet that has it.

I'm going for French. My ex-wife was a French teacher. As much as I learned watching her personality and mannerisms morph when she was speaking with others in French, I wish she'd given me a few more "clues" that would have proved useful.

Like many I resented, at the time, being required to endure Latin in high school. I've come to appreciate the commonality among romance languages.

I chuckled when my son, then in ninth grade, confessed that he thought "romance language" was a reference to la langue de l'amour. It was the same thought I'd had when I was his age!

Language is communication is understanding is empathy is cooperation.

Honestly, I found Italian damn easy after taking Spanish and Latin classes. Mostly useless, but damn is it nice to be able to sound a little fancier..

Duolingo is a pretty good site. I have been learning Spanish on there for approx. 1 month. Slow pace. I like that you can keep practicing old lessons you have learned to reinforce the learning.

I actually have Rosetta Stone at home but use Duo at work on breaks and shit.

I use Rosetta once in a while when I have time to continue learning. I added you Grey. Mine is adsnorri. Much better when you are learning with someone.

Get ready for a bunch of Eating and Drinking statements!
