Guys,

I just passed the bar and I feel pretty up-to-date with the law. So as a new lawyer, my only question is did any of the victims PIIHB?

Isn't that technically illegal in some states? Does that then also make her the victim?

Looking at the charges, apparently they did.

She was in a position of trust and should be fired, never be allowed to teach again, and I don't know what else. She shouldn't be looking at long jail term. IMO, that's just ridiculous.

75 years ago people got married frequently at 16, 17, etc.. Teen sexuality these days I'm guessing is much greater than 75 years ago. A 17 year old can go to war, but can't legally get laid.

It's a betrayal of trust, not abuse. Those boys will not need therapy, don't need heel, etc.. They'll get some street cred. If this was my son I wouldn't be happy, but I sure wouldn't be calling for her head.

Not in anyway saying teachers should be banging their students, but we need to be honest about the level of injustice and abuse.

Fire her, ban her from teaching. It's fairly ridiculous that she faces live in jail for being seduced by a 17 year old kid.

A teacher inspires students to cum to class and she is a criminal. Totally absurd.

I think life in jail is a joke, more like she could use a good spanking

My thought from reading the story is that one of the "victims" got jealous of her stepping out with other "victims" and that's how it got reported. It's got to be that or someone was bragging about it or maybe a parent found out. But there is one line where it alludes to one of the "victims" lodging a complaint.

I haven't read the article, but that's exactly what I was thinking. She got tired of one and went for another, thus pissing the #1 kid off.

She must be extremely stupid or horny to have sex with one of those kids after she had already been arrested. Maybe both!

You really think half the school didn't know this was going on and there wasn't a fair number of dudes getting in line for some action? Seniors banging frosh in HS is "legal" but I think more morally disgusting than seniors or juniors knocking boots with a hot enough teacher.

And yes, absolutely a double standard. Male teachers should be shot for nailing students.

Never teach again, but jail time is completely unnecessary.

The biggest question that we may never know is what the hell she was thinking. From what I been able to find on the three teens, two of them were having trouble in life one way or another (one moved into the area and was upset and the other basically had no parents). I have not found anything about the third.

So why these kids and why that time? She obviously looks good and this wasn't her first year working as a teacher. Assuming nobody else comes forward, what made her do this now? Perhaps she was unhappy with her marriage and the first kid was there and required little effort. If it were isolated to this event, I would be much more inclined to think this was a major mistake on her part that she should pay the price professionally, but have limited jail risk. With that said, I find it strange that she pulled in at least two other victims and carried on the escapade with the first for as long as she did.

I honestly think this started out as one thing, but morphed into something else. There appears to be a pattern there and the fact that this happened with multiple kids leads me to believe she really does have a problem (whether that is the feeling of power she has over them, the rush of doing something wrong, who the hell knows for sure). After all, if she was really in need of something on the side, I am sure there were many co-workers she could get as well as randoms at a bar.

Pretty much where I'm at. I cannot for the life of me understand what "harm" came to any of the "victims."

I mean that quite seriously... can someone please explain to me what tangible harm could've come to any of these guys per alleged actions? I'd change my mind if someone can make a good argument.

That's about it.

Knowing how teenage boys can be, I doubt there was much coercion involved on the teacher's part. Is there any evidence that she threatened them with lower grades or gave them promises of good grades that they didn't earn? I'm not saying it's right, but just because there is the potential of a betrayal of trust or coercion, it may not have happened. It could have been as simple as a good-looking woman coming on to a horny teenage boy (redundant, I know). The same situation could have happened if the kid was cleaning the neighbors pool and the lonely housewife offered him a refreshing beverage inside, and....well, you know. My point is, the teacher-student dynamic may not have been in play in a meaningful way. This woman could have just as easily been banging the teenage kid working the front desk at the gym.

You are right, but this wasn't an isolated event with one kid. There are at least three. Two of the three were obviously unhappy with their current life and she knew it. If it was all about the sex, why not someone from the gym? Why not a co-worker? Why not a the kid that takes your ticket at the movie? I really do think there is a psychological issue with her that led to this. From the teen's POV, there might not have been coercion, but they may have been manipulated.

I think this is on point. She must have some pretty serious issues of her own to have continued to sex these kids even after having charges filed against her.

I was doing some Googling because we had a case like this my freshman year of high school and I came across the following statistic:

Across the country, sexual-misconduct allegations led states to take action against the licenses of 2,570 educators from 2001 to 2005.

That's over one per day. Why is this one such a huge story?

Cuz she's hot.

Also, because she didn't just engage in a little sexual misconducted. She (allegedly) sexted, sexed, and (was) sodomized (by?) four students, even after being ordered to stop. She's the Barry Bonds of sexual misconduct.
