Per UCLA 247 site, it looks as though the UCLA staff is starting to believe Jones will sign with ND on NSD. It sounds like they are pretty close to making a run at Clark basically conceding this battle.

Excellent news! The Bruins can help themselves and take Mr. Clark instead.

Hope those folks are right. Would love to get a little revenge on Mora.

Clark named UCLA his leader awhile ago. They've been making that push for awhile.

Clark hasn't been able to commit to UCLA until maybe now because they wanted Jones. Jones is aware of Clark and UCLA, previously, didn't want to push Jones away. Now it sounds like its inevitable so they'll make that move.

And Clark can commit to UCLA until someone else catches his interest. lol

So does he still take his OV to UCLA if they move on. Still seems to be a disconnect in the story line here.

As I understand it, Jones has explained this directly, which is kind of unique. In addition to his billionaire best friend heading to ND:

- Jones has a vision for how he wants to be used as a TE: not just attached, but also not just spread out.

- ND has SHOWN him that they use their TEs in precisely that way, and have had incredible success doing so.

- UCLA has TALKED a lot about how they plan to use him, but have not shown him. Why? Because they can't. They have no film to back it up.

For that reason, ND caught up with UCLA, but he plans to honor his word and give Mora one more chance to SHOW him. So even if he goes on the trip to UCLA, people are assuming that Mora won't win him over because he can't actually show him + Jones is determined not be talked into anything (as opposed to shown) + Jones has great relationships at ND + he seems to talk as if he is leaning ND.

Add all that up, and people are 95% sure he is going to ND. The 5% that remains represents the fact that he originally chose UCLA, so he obvious likes it, and who knows, kids are fickle and Mora is a salesman... things could change.

Domina- I understand to an extent that mindset from him. However, if they haven't shown him yet, and can't, why would give them second chance?

Just seems to me like he's wanting UCLA to "show" him so he can have a "reason" to go there. If that makes sense.

I just don't like the vibe it all gives.

I think that makes perfect sense. I categorize him as an ND lean, but visits often lead to big swings.

He may well prefer UCLA without the TE stuff, that wouldn't be shocking.

As for the "second chance," however, remember Drue Tranquil. He was not at all comfortable committing somewhere and then backing out. I think those type of kids want to extend every courtesy to be fair to the original team.

I assume he was named after this brand of Cognac, and that the apostrophe was substituted (mistaken?) for the "é" at the end. I'd pronounce it ah-lee-ZAY.

One thing's for sure...we probably won't know for sure how it's supposed to be pronounced until the stadium announcers give us the correct pronunciation the first time he takes the field. Then we'll have the pleasure of hearing every ESPN announcer screw it up for 4 years.

Notre Dame Wins At The Buzzer - ESPN Video - ESPN
"CJ Pro-cease"
"Mal-lick Zie-ear"
"Tar-ian Foster"
"Everett Olson"

There was, of course, "Mon-tee Tay-yow" or "Manti Tio" too...or however they were pronouncing it a few years ago.

The worst is Everett Golston. I think announcers use a "t" sound more often than not.

^That goes directly against what ISD and others have reported on him from practice, so I'm going to take that with a bit of a grain of salt.

I don't even think he played, right?

He actually played quite a bit of snaps but he was torching CB's and S's in practice the first few days down there. He didn't have a productive game but those games are so hit or miss. Very hard for offensive players to show consistency in those situations. I've seen enough tape of this kid to know that he's a special prospect. He has WR speed at TE and his ball skill are very good.

TE's especially in a game that is nothing but tyring to get explosive plays. methodically moving the ball down the field isnt fun or entertaining for an all star game.

Maybe it wasn't his All-Star games but didn't the defenses dominate the All-Star games this year? IF the QB didn't have any time to throw in the game, that may have been a factor.

I agree with your analysis and hope it is correct. Seems very athletic.

Yea, and I would add QB's aren't going through their progressions. 1. Because they probably don't know what the correct progressions are. 2. The Dlineman are usually further along than the Olineman and that makes for a lot of broken plays.

He only participated in 1 day of practice and destroyed people in that 1 day. I forget why exactly he missed the rest of the practices, but the only negative I heard was about him blocking.

Don't care about that, this is why we have Tyler and Smythe.

My mistake, I thought he was a participant for the first 2-3 practices.

Side note: UCLA 247 mod went into a rather long post about how Alize is basically soft. They are trying to soften the blow of losing him. Good sign for us.
