IMO, Farley will be toast during the FSU game. But as far as next year, Watkins will also be ready to lock down. I'm guessing he's RSing but I could be wrong. Cole Like, Kaivarae, Redfield, Shummate, Watkins, good Lord!

Add in Butler who looks like he's going to be ready to see big minutes and make an impact next year.
Also I know we have more depth than when KVR was a freshman, but it wouldnt suprise me to see Crawford in the mix. He is a special athlete.

He looks a lot bigger than the last time I saw him play.

So excited to have him back in the secondary.

Hoping he has a better showing than Everett after a year off.

... not germane to Keivarae's thread, but Whitfield is a body mechanics coach, not a psychiatrist or a mind-manager. He also cannot up anyone's football on-field IQ, just their body functionality, which he is quite good at.

I realize that the posts above were jokes, but they play into an IE "problem" about what specific coaches can and cannot be realistically expected to do. Kelly, Longo, Hiestand, and Van Gorder constantly receive such criticism here.

Agreed. Can't add reps for this because I must spread it around first.

i think Tim Tebow's struggles at the pro level too have shown that such QB mechanics coaches aren't worth much if a player simply reverts to their natural mechanics when the pressure is on.

Hard to blame them. Would most people stand still if a grizzly bear was charging them?

You're correct my friend it was a joke and you bring up an interesting point. There are a lot of very good coaches that get a bad rap for one reason or another. Many times it's the lack of talent to coach and other times the HC may want things done a particular way.

Rick Venturi used to be an assistant coach for the Colts and was promoted to interim HC as well. He's on the radio every week and is extremely insightful. He took a lot of heat as being a crappy coach, but he was saddled by Bob Irsay and very little talent.

Wish he had twitter. He'd be one of the few football players that would be a joy to follow. Always so positive.

Russell is easily my favorite player among the Frozen 5, no italics. He's doing and saying all the right things, I hope he just knocks it out of the park next year.

I know I am partial, but it seems we attract more than most other schools, a different breed of person. I love how most of our kids respond to the very real adversities that going to a school like Notre Dame will challenge you with. Kev is the kind of young man you want on your team regardless what your game is.

He's going to be a big upgrade over Riggs. 2ndary will be borderline elite if they stay healthy.

His instagram has a lot more cool posts just like that one. There's one where he jumps on top of a 60" stack of boxes. Absolutely ridiculous. I don't know how to post it, but you can Google his instagram easily enough.

Corners MAYBE. Entire secondary? Sorry, not unless Shumate and Max get it all figured out this offseason.

With all of the freak out going on regarding safeties, I would add that this is completely rational to hope for. Shumate has shown a lot of skill and Max had a great bowl game against LSU. Plus, Max is a five star going into the second act of his career at Notre Dame. I have a feeling things are about to click for him.

Also, with all of the hybrid players like Onwualu, Tranquill & Bilal... I think our safety situation could be one of those areas where we are surprisingly okay at. Kinda like how our corners ended up being fine last season.

I suppose you could add the possibility of Devin Butler moving to safety or maybe James Onwalu getting moved back there if need be.
