Kettering (Ohio) Alter defensive back Class of 2015 Nick Coleman visited Ohio State last Friday. He talked to the OSU coaches and they wanted him to come back for camp and perhaps land a scholarship offer. But instead Coleman committed to Notre Dame on Thursday.
So are things over between the Buckeyes and Coleman?
After he committed to the Irish, who got the first call? Urban Meyer and Chris Ash. Coleman was told the door is still open and he has their number. The plan is for the Ohio State staff to stay in touch.
Coleman seems to be a pretty solid Notre Dame commitment. But the Ohio State staff likes to keep things alive and Coleman is one of those guys that will remain on the radar.
- OSU 247
Glowing to say the least. Sounds like the staff feels like they got themselves a steal indeed!
The OSU 247 guys are seriously delusional. Everything revolves around their world and not reality. The reason that Coleman called OSU is because BK told him to. In II's interview with Nick, Nick states that BK told him that he has to man up now and tell people that he's committed and that its going to be tough but he has to do. Call the people he needs to (including media) and let them know he's committed. I think its hilarious that these OSU guys think its because of Urban. Actually its the opposite. I want to go over to their board and write DUMBA$$ and thats it.
Talked with Nick at the game last night. Great kid with a great attitude. Said he has been working on Soso. Also said he loves BVG. He mentioned you don't pick a school for a coach since they could leave but BVG helped tip the scales in our favor. Looking forward to seeing him on the field the next four years.
FWIW, yesterday TJ reiterated that the staff loves Nick as a CB prospect.
Could he play RB if needed? Or is the staff pretty set on him on being the other side of the ball?
Staff likes him at corner to start but if we don't get another back I could see a switch. He would be the number 4 back instead of being kind of buried on corner depth chart.
kid does seem faster than i thought...I thought they played in a pretty good football league in Ohio?? those are some small kids

I don't see that as an option. ND NEEDS a 2nd RB in this class. IMO it's going to be either Dexter or Cronkrite. I don't see them losing out for both. I think the staff has Coleman locked in at CB.
Alter is a Division IV team. They do play a few high level teams and even a Division I team or two every year. But yeah, they play quite a few smaller schools too.
The league they are in is all Catholic and the enrollment sizes vary.
Ohio just added a class at the "top." So Alter used to be D3, which had hotspots in Ohio. (Good football.) But Alter played up a division most of the time, like most of the Catholic schools. This year they slaughtered everyone, beat Keynton in a game to advance to the finals, and lost a close one to Benedictine, (I think 14-7) in the finals. Benedictine was beast. Coleman's speed is real. I cannot fathom how his rating didn't jump with the season he had, in spite of the fact that he wasn't pushing for ratings with his offseason activities.
Reminds me sooo much of Keivarie.
