And Florida State landing 4 star QB Deondre Francois for 2015 didn't have an effect while ND adding Wimbush did? How strange.

Wimbush is a borderline 5 star recruit. He's the better college prospect, much better actually...in my biased opinion.

But I think that's only half the story. Word is that after we landed Wimbush, the staff cooled a bit on Henry...thus making FSU the clear choice. And to be honest, I like Wimbush more than Henry anyway so I'll take that trade. I'm not saying Henry isn't good...but I really think Wimbush is legit and will be special while at ND. Heck of a pull by the staff.

If ND didn't land Wimbush they probably would've landed Henry today, no? I figure that's sorta the point.

It's exactly the point.

Staff stopped recruiting Malik weeks ago after Wimbush committed. ISD reported that contact had cooled off a couple of Friday's back. They are focusing in on Shea Patterson amongst other QBs.

Would it be cool to have Malik? Sure but staff made the call and have other QBs in mind. They deserve the benefit of the doubt. There's absolutely nothing to worry about as far as QBs are concerned. They'll get their man.

I think it would be great to land 1 QB every year. You never know how things pan out. Things like surprise transfers and suspensions could happen. Always best to have a few options available.

Sure, he took that into consideration too. He took EVERYTHING into account.

Maybe Wimbush was the straw? Maybe he was happy to redshirt in '16, hold a clipboard in '17 and then compete with Kizer in '18?

Maybe KJ Costello called him and said he's going to ND and that he'd never sniff the plastic grass.

I don't what the final reason was but when you are making that decision, every factor has a value. It's simple math from there.

.

And how about Florida State also landing 2015 4 star QB De'Andre Johnson. I wonder how having 2 4 star QB's for 2015 affected his decision.

Oh, for sure. Definitely want one per year if possible. I just meant that if landing Wimbush made us miss out on Henry specifically, I'm okay with that. Not that we should skip 2016 entirely. Maybe now we'll just land a different, less touted QB than Henry. Or maybe we'll get another stud like Pass, Patterson or Costello. I'm sure the staff has thought about all of this though and has a plan going forward. I'd bet just about anything we land a QB for '16 whether it's a highly ranked kid by the services or maybe a project type.

He was he started trending hard to ND BECAUSE we didn't have a 2015 QB and FSU had some guys committed..... and then it course corrected.

When we had Barnett, we didn't lead for Henry. Then Barnett decommitted pre II and we started "surging"... and then we got Wimbush and he almost immediately trends back to FSU. Not coincidence. Both his interest and potentially ND's could be linked to the vacancy (or now lack thereof) at QB in the '15 class.

Agree with this ^^^ Perfectly worded post and good timeline. This sums up Henry's recruitment pretty well in my opinion. I'd rep you but I have to spread it around.

I actually think it goes beyond that. I think ND's interest was a little less immediate once Wimbush committed.

3 4 star QBs in Florida States class actually, assuming all of Locksley, Francois and Johnson stay at QB.

But I would rather have Wimbush at this point than have a chance at Henry next year.

Which makes me feel that if an opposing coaching staff was able to convince him that there was space and a direct path to starting (ie transfers, injuries or salesmanship) in the 12+ months until NSD, we may have been in a bad spot. I think the staff may have seen it that way as well... All things considered, im pretty delighted with QB recruiting at the moment and ill be over the moon if we land someone from Costello, Patterson & Associates. I think the staff handled this situation really well.

Why, after landing Wimbush, would the staff stop recruiting Henry, but then push for Patterson? If the staff is going hard after a '16 QB, why not Henry?

bc they don't rate Henry as highly as you do, possibly.

I don't rate Henry at all compared to those other QB's. That's immaterial.

Something is fishy if ND was recruiting him hard one day, and then not the next day. Or, earlier reports about him were incorrect. That's what I'm getting at.

Loy was going to come out with some more info on this situation and what occurred but after speaking with some folks he has decided not to. What he did say was that there was a miscommunication between the staff and Henry and his father. There were some things they disagreed on.

Maybe his dad wanted one of these just in case.....

He's looking like crap against Mater Dei

Mater Dei made the adjustments from the first meeting which was a 28-27 victory at Westlake. Tonight was 28-7. Westlake is a very good HS football team but Mater Dei is the next level, a team that plays with anybody you match them up against.
