Probably shouldn't bother, but nothing much has changed with our RBs except Tarean has really turned on the "rip-effort" at the point of attack. Cam is still the most dependable person we have at the all-around game [and Kelly's offense DEMANDS blocking the blitz with no fullback] and does his proper assignment 90+% of the time. Tarean is getting his blocking done about two-thirds of the time [which still isn't good enough, and Coach said that he should have used Cam more against FSU for that reason.] Greg manages to sort-of get the correct block about half the time or less. As long as he still goofs that up, and Tarean gives us such good running with Cam giving us adequate running, receiving, and excellent blocking, Greg will be on the field minimally. That's more or less how the season started and except for Tarean ripping and rocking, we're still there.

This offense depends, in case anyone hasn't yet noticed, upon Everett having enough of a comfort zone in the first three counts post-snap to get in his zone and do his strange magic. That means blocking is the number one priority, and why Coach Harry had to realign the whole OLine to attempt to match that priority [unfortunately we're still one OLineman short there.] I'd say, if anyone wants to blame someone for Bryant's small numbers of reps, blame the middle of the OLine [especially, God bless him, Matt Hegarty] for requiring a savvy blocker in the backfield to clean up some of their messes.

Any else note the crushing block by Cam on the blitzing LB up the middle on Golson's TD pass to Koyack? Cam hit him so hard he had no chance to get his hands up for the easy block.

I just hope Byant is a little banged up or I would not be surprised if he transfers.

Blah blah blah, based on what exactly? Could he? Yes of course but we heard the same crap all year last year and come August he was in camp. Not every 5 star takes the easy way out when they aren't playing right away.

I wouldn't even say it's the easy way out. Bryant will be playing next year if he stays. If he were to leave, he would sit out another year.

He's not going anywhere, not this year anyway. If he graduates and still hasn't made his mark, then I could see him leaving his 5th year for immediate playing time.

Jesus Christ here we go again. Is everybody else who didn't play yesterday going to transfer too? Would be smart for him to transfer I mean next year he will be the second running back on a top 5 team in the country.

Actually I wouldn't be surprised if he transferred either. Be better to sit out a here and hopefully end up making it somewhere else instead of being RB2

Guys, if you want to get the top recruit in the country each year...there are going to be battles where the 5-star fan fav doesnt win the position. Obivously GB was a little banged up, but there werent transfer rumors about Ishaq Williams transferring when he wasnt getting PT. Alabama has talent on talent at RB and those backs understand their position. GB is at ND for a reason and he fully understands that. You want to get SoSo? Well I will guarentee you that SoSo, GB and Folston arent getting carries next year. Its just hard to get 3 backs carries in any offense, let alone one where there is a so much talent at WR.

GB needs to work on his craft and fix his weaknesses and that will lead to PT. Folston worked on his and is getting carries. Simple as that.

So should we keep trashing Cam and Kelly for conspiring to steal those 9 carries from Bryant or just recognize some posters regularly run their mouths before engaging their brains?

Why break with thrash-dition?

Genius. In perspective and communication. If I didn't know better, I would say you are a teacher! Would have loved to taken a class!

With everyone anointing Folston, which is fine, he ran great for the most part, I think everyone should just slow down a minute. Folston ran for 149, and I will say nothing to take away from that, but it looked to me that he was still out of position on three or four plays, (just what I noticed), including Everett's ad lib touchdown. I am not sure I like his tells, either. It was hard with CBS, they were having a hard time keeping the camera on the play on the field, let alone the team lining up, but I will be trying to watch on ABC this weekend. I think Folston cheats a bit when he has blocking duty. Anyone else notice this?

To me, he's a guy that needs a consistent workload to get the experience to take his game to the next level.

I would agree with that, too!

My only question is if with the schedule, ND can afford it this year.

Bottom line, if he can stay patient and hone his craft he will be at worst, #2 RB with 40% of the carries next year for a sure fire playoff team. Then he is only a sprained ankle away from being #1 RB. 3 RB's is hard to rotate consistently and you have to give your Captain his earned carries as a Senior.

Your imagination needs work. It could be worse.

Right, I basically agree, especially with the bolded parts. GB is a talented player, but he has to win the job. Kelly's not gonna give it to him, nor should he. If GB gets fed up and leaves, it will be simply for that reason, that he didn't win the job.

Also, a lot of people in this thread are kind of glossing over some of the facts of GB's recruitment, IIRC, by calling him a "5-star" as if to suggest that he could have gone to any school in the country. Greg wasn't a consensus 5-star and he was passed over by some of the major programs in Florida and the Southeast. There were a lot of schools that technically offered him but actually preferred another running back. He really has no basis for being a prima donna based on his recruitment, imo. It's not like the concept of someone else being preferred to him is foreign to him.

Can you imagine if Bryant gets a seam and takes one to the house like Cierre did @ OU?

Cierre Wood > Greg Bryant

This coming from the guy who claimed Cierre was better than Theo and it 'isn't even close', lol. Theo was clearly the better RB, IMO.

You see to really like Cierre. I'd love to revisit this post in 2 years.

No shit it'll be different in two years. Cierre Wood was a senior in 2012 for the Oklahoma run and Greg Bryant is a sophomore for any possible game breaking run against Arizona State.

And while we're at it, clearly the better RB when Wood averaged 6.5 and Riddick 4.8? Okay chief. Cierre Wood brought a level of consistency to position not seen since...Julius Jones? Can you point to a recent ND back who can top an average of 5.1/5.1/6.5 for their three years as one of the main backs? You continue to almost criminally undervalue Wood. It's a shame he wasn't on the squad for 2013.

Cierre was a stud his junior year. He seemed to revert a little to his sophomore running style as a senior.

But I agree, he's was very good.

I posted about this earlier, I forget which thread, saying Cierre was better than Theo and that if he hadn't been in Kelly's doghouse, he would have been an ND great. However, I don't have time to get into this argument as I have midterms. But that guy people say "danced" too much, provided one of my favorite runs I can remember against MSU (Cierre Wood with a tough run through Michigan State - YouTube) and ran for 1000 yards. He was a silky smooth runner with not elite, but great speed. If he wasn't such an idiot and could have laid off the weed for a bit he would have been a star.
