My point is, ASU won by the skin of their teeth.

Their back-up has been starting a lot due to the foot issue of Kelly. He may be the better QB honestly.

They didn't blow USC out of the water.

They will be formidable opponents nonetheless, along with USC.

My point was just that ASU is a solid team, even with their back up in. I think you and I are in agreement?

USC slightly scares me because of the history. They always play us tough. ASU is a solid team but we should beat them. Louisville is a sham and I think we pound 'em.

I think we go undefeated because the FSU loss pisses off the team and puts the chip on the shoulder we have been wanting them to have. I fully expect the team to be galvanized for the last part of the schedule and march into playoff contention at the end of the year.

I could always be wrong, but I have a feeling ND is going to make it in this year. I don't know about their chances to win it all, I think maybe next year is setup perfectly for them. But I won't count them out until the final whistle blows. This team has taken on the personality of their leaders, BK & EG, and plays with all sorts of heart. I'm proud of them whatever happens from here on out.

Question:

Do we take a tumble in the polls being on a bye week?

Texas and LSU wins would be nice and not completely insane. Penn State and Tennessee wild upsets would be deliriously good, and the only reason I mention them is that they are decent teams with decent coaches playing at home.

Same recipe for Kentucky at home against Mississippi State. Wildcats aren't as bad as that stomping they took from LSU made it seem.

Only Tennessee seems to be a really all that wild, and even that game is UT's biggest rival game, and you never know in those games

No, but they're not as good as a 5-2 record would appear either. Their wins are Tennessee Martin, Ohio, a hapless Vandy, an up and down So Ca by 7, and Louisiania Monroe. Their 7 pt loss to UF doesn't look so good when you consider at UF's season long QB struggles and Muschamp being on the block. Sagarin ranks UK with the 91st Toughest Schedule to date.

State is too hungry for this to be trap game.

Aug 30 W 59 - 14 TNMART

Sep 6 W 20 - 3 OHIO

Sep 13 L 36 - 30 at FLA

Sep 27 W 17 - 7 VANDY

Oct 4 W 45 - 38 SC

Oct 11 W 48 - 14 LAMON

Oct 18 L 41 - 3 at LSU

I didn't say they were world-beaters, just that they are better than was on display in Death Valley.

Home game, friendly crowd, decent coach and enough talent to put up points. If they protect the ball and Miss St comes out sluggish, it could happen.

If Miss State didn't have a bye week last week, I'd be more confident in an upset.

I really think both Mississippi schools will drop 2 games each before the regular season ends. I could very well be wrong, but I don't think that they're anything other than solid teams who were able to bring the A game in their home games against Bama/Auburn. I'd still rather play either Miss school in the playoff than Bama/Auburn.

That'd be quite a show.

Well, Michigan State already jumped us in one poll and they averaging tons of points on offense at the moment.

I see them destroying Michigan and closing the gap on us in the coaches' poll, just because, you know, the B12 is a "power conference"

You guys are forgrtting one thing. The polls don't mean shit anymore. Come Tuesday I hope ND is #5 or #6. It will make the boys play with a chip on their shoulder and the playoffs are still a reachable goal. MSU will not be ahead of us in the Playoff Rankings. While they out played Oregon for the better part of 3 quarters they still got it in the ass in the end anyways.

Keep FSU undefeated, Auburn loses and ND is in.

WHEN do you want Auburn to lose? This weekend? Or after we put the hurt on Navy? Or in the Iron Bowl, when a second loss would likely move us past the loser of that game, provided we run the table and beat USC in LA?

I agree about the only poll that matters. My fear is that the committee is less thrilled with FSU and ranks them lower thereby making our loss to them "less impressive" and our ranking taking a hit as well. I am not convinced the committee's poll will mirror the Coach's or AP polls.

Personally, an Iron Bowl loss would be preferable, but I would love for them to take out Bama in that game.

Maybe have them lose another game, win the Iron Bowl against Bama, and then ND would be fine, even if the FSU loss looks "less impressive", despite the fact that FSU would likely still be undefeated and ranked #2 in the nation, if all that happened.

Personally, I think that Ole Miss and Miss State are way overrated, so who knows?

I could see Ole Miss losing today.

Also, I think the Mississippi schools are really good. But they've never been "the hunted" before. Every game they play now is huge. That's hard, no matter what kind of talent you have. I don't think either will run the table.

The judge can tell the jury to disregard a piece of testimony, not to watch TV, read the papers and internet, and talk to others but many still do. The Panel had 8 weeks to form their preconceptions. For the rest of the season they will watch games and listen to football pundits, and read ... polls and other things.

We should be ranked 3 now. The two undefeated teams then us. Fsu will probably be 1. We are the best of the one loss teams considering it was against 1 and we kicked their ass.

1. Fsu
2. Miss st
3. Irish
4. Michigan st

We don't have any impressive wins. It would be hard to justify us at #3.
