wow! Great news.

Not surprised that he got his thunder stolen. This kid probably prefers it that way. Now maybe he wont have to go in front of a camera or do an interview.

What was surprising is that Anna didn't break it. She was really the main person he talked to throughout the process.

Not that I'm aware of, but usually the kid can make an announcement or call the coach and make it official or send a tweet or something, whereas in this case he probably had reporters lighting him up to confirm the news while BK was unavailable.

It's just a tiny peeve of mine when reporters, in their rush to be first, announce something as "official" before the kids themselves have made it "official."

EDIT: Although as Me2 and Wooly point out, Bilal probably wasn't trying to make it a big deal one way or the other.

Good choice Bilal!

If we also get Coney/Kirkland, what a LB haul. I'm not huge on Bilal, but I hope he proves me wrong. He's different, and I hope it's different-good not different-bad, but I'm glad he's Irish.

I made the mistake of only watching the first few minutes of his junior highlights a while ago. A lot of shoe-string, dive-at-their-feet tackles (still good, athletic plays though!) but I had doubts about his ability as a tackler at the next level.

Gave that video another watch, and my goodness was I a fool for not watching the last two minutes. Kid was bringing the wood late in the junior highlight video. If it was edited chronologically, I'd be even more impressed by his improvement from diving at legs to full-body punishment.

I agree he is very talented. His athleticism is apparent in his Jr tape. Very happy to land him!

OMG...I thought the same thing. As you progress through his tape it gets better and better. This kid is a fantastic athlete and has the motor you love at LB. Just a GREAT get!

Fwiw, anna did note that Bilal wanted to tell the staff before it got out but it was announced before he could inform the staff. Sounds like anna knew but didn't say anything at first.

This is great news. As green as the defense is, they are extremely talented and will only get better. These coaches are doing a phenomenal job on the trail.
