KeiVarae Russell -- Notre Dame 'becoming ridiculous' - ESPN

"I killed my meeting; I was so prepared and ready and was able to refute damn near every suspicion they had," said the Tuesday Instagram post, copies of which were widely circulated Wednesday on social media.

"Described details of assignments thoroughly so they couldn't say I didn't do it," the post said. "AND THEY STILL SAID MY DECISION WONT COME UNTIL ALL 5 OF US (and some other minor hearings) ARE DONE. Decision MIGHT come next week, not even 100% it's tough to understand these people."

Russell posted a photo of himself from an August preseason practice Wednesday night with another message, saying "Just think about how mad these people are going to be when they realize they couldn't hold me down. When all my dreams still become fulfilled. When I use them for a degree. When I come back and dominate the NCAA. Just think..."

Here we go, nice distraction before Stanford.

Seriously doubt this'll be a distraction to anyone actually involved in the game. Kelly's quite adept at handling questions about it, and the players won't be doing much talking.

As for the process and its length, I agree it's baffling and frustrating and shouldn't take this long. I certainly feel for the players being kept in limbo all these weeks. But I keep coming back to the fact that if this didn't involve football players in-season, the timeline really wouldn't make any material difference to anyone (regular students in this boat still go to class, etc.) And as a parent, I'd rather my kid receive a full and thorough investigation than be tossed from college over a hasty accusation.
So I have a hard time seeing what the big institutional issue is here, beyond the short-term impact on our football team. And the short-term impact on the football team isn't supposed to drive institutional processes at Notre Dame. That's why we're Notre Dame. Right?

Any idea on what these are about?

If he gets back soon and plays well down the stretch you'd think this whole process would make him think seriously about getting out after 3 years and taking his shot at the NFL provided he grades out ok (no pun intended).

Already quoted, but to emphasize two points clearly :

This entire statement is one of a man falsely accused. There is a bit of fight, and righteous indignation, but not the attack and hostility that the guilty show. The entirety of his enmity is focused at the process, the length of time it took, but more importantly at the fact that he was accused in the first place.

And secondly, what happened to the rumors of wide spread cheating, going back years? It clearly states that the five hearings are the thing, (referring to a couple of other "other minor hearings"). This means the scope of the "witch hunt" aspect of this was unfounded. Why if ND had a situation where five football players had others writing papers for them, did the Council General need to become involved, let alone spearhead this thing?

These kids have spent the last 6 weeks wondering what their ... futures hold. Meanwhile, they're expected to perform 100% academically.

4 years of tuition: $an assload

4 years of room and board: $not much less

Preparing kids for the real world: Priceless

Is there ANY chance this dude sees the field this season? Possible suspension aside, this has to violate team media policy right?

I'd imagine, if that were the case, that we would've already heard from the Daniels faction on Twitter.

Unlike the suspension carosel, the team media policy is a Kelly issue. I seriously doubt if Kelly is going to suspend KR further for posting that on instagram.

I have a brother-in-law that is a contractor. Does home improvement stuff mostly (drywall, flooring, etc...).

Earlier this year, he redid the flooring in our kitchen. At the same time, I decided to do our sunroom, which is about 1/3 the size of the kitchen. I followed the same process as he did. I mixed the mortar. I laid it with the same size trowel. I used spacers to lay the tile. I cleaned it with a damp cloth.

But, the problem is, I'm lazy, and I hate this kind of work. My brother-in-law was done days before I finished my section. Not only that, but his work was MUCH better than mine. I'd stop for the day after I finished cleaning the concrete. Then I'd stop after I cleaned the tile. When I came back, I realized I didn't do a good job cleaning, so then I had to scrub the tile with a vinegar compound to try to clean the dried grout off the tile, which took days, because I didn't do a good job following the "process".

Point being this - a process is just another tool. When used by someone who knows what the f$#@ their doing, it will get done much faster than by someone who just doesn't care. Just because it takes a long time, doesn't mean you did the process any better than someone who is more efficient at it.

Notre Dame may have a great process in place for this. But poor execution of the process is still poor, and it doesn't make us better than anyone else.

Kelly probably wishes he could post it on his own Instagram.

Didn't he bench GA3 for texting at breakfast?

Just guessing: Difference in circumstances. I think Kelly is probably pretty pissed. So I doubt he's even mad at KR. Sounds like GAIII was purposefully subordinate. KR probably (privately) has Kelly's (unspoken) blessing.

I'd agree that length of a process doesn't necessarily equate to its quality. In this case, I've no idea what they've been doing for the last two months. This probably could/should have been done faster.
But I've seen it suggested more than once that parents of regular, non-athlete, students should/would think twice about sending their kids to Notre Dame because of what this - particularly how long it has taken - says about the institution. And I think that's kind of ridiculous. If it wasn't football players in football season, with the weekly opportunity cost of being held out of games, the pace of the process really wouldn't make much of a difference.

His own words were hes gonna get a degree. So unless he's on a 3yr plan he's coming back :). As far as his draft stock, as long as he runs under 4.5 hes not droping below 2nd rnd. Obviously how ever they grade these guys they have to guess speed on film.

You can measure speed on tape more accurately than live with a stop watch, if you have yard markers.

Perhaps had Keivarae begun his interview with this invocation - Sedes Sapientiae, Ora Pro Nobis - and concluded his presentation with another - Sancta Maria, Master Dei, Ora Pro Nobis Peccatoribus - there would have been immediate resolution. Catholics are into supplication.

But they're innocent, no sins committed
