I think he'll be successful in the league, and KC got a steal. Great attitude, good motor, hard worker.

This kid is one of my favorite ND players ever. Definition of a team player, zero drama, tough as nails and got it done in the trenches.

Signed yesterday along with Darius Fleming to the Patriot practice squad.

Good for him. But damn I'd like to have Kona on the D line this year. Dude's a ballplayer. Maybe the worst burned redshirt of the Kelly era.

New Seahawks offensive linemen picking up system quickly - Seattle Seahawks | 710 ESPN Seattle

Kona signed with Seattle for a tryout after being released by Oakland. They moved him to Offensive Guard and he did well in the tryout by all accounts

Final impressions of Seahawks’ rookie mini-camp on Kasen Williams, QBs, the O-line, Lockett and more | The Seattle Times

Schwenke was a defensive lineman in college and also last year when he had shots with the Jets, Chiefs and Patriots and was released by the Raiders earlier this week. He was a defensive linemen with each team. But the Seahawks are trying him on offense and Cable said so far, so good. “I think just movement and he’s got a real cool brain,” Cable said of trying Schwenke on offense. “He picked it up pretty quick and was able to kind of change his whole mindset. He’s never done this before so a lot like Kristjan and just kind of progressed each of the days and today I thought was pretty cool watching him.” So don’t be surprised to hear that Schwenke has also signed to the 90-man soon.

Oline coaches always have the best quotes

Not only the best quotes, but the smartest, too!

I hope this assessment is right on, and Kona has a chance to play guard in the NFL. That would be great!

Hoping for the best for this guy.

Been a huge fan since he gained 60+ pounds in one year between FR-SO. Living the fat people dream!

We all hate reading about ND players struggling to stay in the league, or getting injured. All the more reason to get a good degree.

Agreed.

What do you think he'll be doing with that Anthropology degree?

One humanities degree is the same as another. In principle, he now has developed skills in:

1) Teamwork/consensus building
2) Reading/quick comprehension
3) Effective writing
4) Applications of cultural differences (relevant to marketing/advertising/nonprofits operating in the third world).

Additionally, he now has the "football-enhanced" alumni network going for him. Good thing he chose ND or else he'd be leaving the NFL with far fewer advantages.
