Barajas is locked in. He made the "mistake" of not going Irish in the beginning and NO DOUBT heard about it 24/7 as soon as he turned his phone on after getting off the plane from Happy Valley.

He goes to the most prominent Catholic school in the Region and lives in a town where everyone is an ND Football fan... even the ones who went to IU and Purdue being that their institutions don't field football teams any longer. A lot of pressure to do the right thing is sitting on his shoulders.

*edit* IU never did.

Per scout he dominated his scrimmage today and could rise in the rankings. He's currently #78 overall. Could approach 5*

I don't know if I think he is a top 50 recruit, but I think he is a really good football player and I'm not shocked to hear that he dominated. I welcome a bump in ranking and can't wait to hear reports of him ballin in BVG's 4-3

There are guys on this board much better at evaluating tape than I am, but, for my money, josh is the best LB-not named jaylon-that Kelly has landed (knock on wood)

CoachD on ISD is extremely high on him, and he thinks is very underrated by the services.

I love to debate if a recruit is Top 50 or top 78 because I am perfectly fine with both!

If this kid explodes when he gets to camp like Bonner and Martini, the camp circuit myth will be exposed for what it is. More risk than gain.

It hurt Elmer and Luatua because they had less than stellar performances.

It hurt Onwualu, because he got hurt, and had nothing to prove.

The only kind of guy I have seen it help is a guy like DeShone Kizer, someone with all the tools and no exposure.

Fuck camps, and Fuck Michigan!

Jaylon Smith took the camps seriously, and he was rewarded with a very high rating. This year, both Shaun Crawford and C J Sanders, did well at the Opening. But, I see your point. The camps are, after all, best in show, dog and pony shows. Both Elmer and Luatua may have been asking themselves.....what do these confirmation tests have to do with football?

Imo, nyles looks a little better. A step quicker and he played against better competition. Probably splitting hairs here.

Zactly!

If you don't need to rocket your fame, your reward/risk just isn't high enough to justify costs in time and money. Simply.

Scout: 11 tackles, 2 sacks and a FF last weekend

Also, I saw Josh at the ND game on Saturday. Hopefully he can be similar to Boykin and attend nearly every game.

Do they get to go on sidelines? Do they have to pay for tickets, and if so do they get the nd hookup price atleast

They sit in front of the student section behind the team. Basically the first set of seats that aren't general seating on the end of the stadium toward the tunnel. No idea about prices and whatnot. Both players were with friends/family.

I haven't looked at Andrean's schedule but if they are playing up like they normally do, I would bet the house that Andrean's schedule is tougher than Crete-Monee's. Far southside suburban football in Chicagoland is usually mediocre at best. The big schools in NWI are usually MUCH better.

You could be right. Crete made a run through the state playoffs Nyle's junior year and they played some good competition. Merrillville is Andrean's only 6A team, but you're correct, they usually play up.

Yes... C-M had a run two years ago because of 2 words that rhyme with LaSean Bledwell.

They are only playing Merrillville? I'm surprised Andrean doesn't play a selection of non conference teams like Valpo, Portage, Chesterton, Hobart, Crown Point, Lake Central, Munster and Highland... they used to. Actually, they may be in Muster and Highland's conference nowadays. They must play a lot of smaller Gary and Hammond schools then which IS easy pickin's.

Maybe I was wrong.

No, they still play some of those teams - Hobart, Munster and Highland. They're all 4A or 5A teams (still playing up). Merrillville is the only 6A.

Treadwell was/is ridiculous.

What the... they played GR Catholic Central at Houseman? How did I not know about this? Not that I would have been able to go, but damn... would have been awesome to see Barajas blow-up my high school's nemesis. Good work, Josh!

Couple nice videos from BGI on Barajas, for anyone interested. Glad we have him in the fold for this years class. Comes off great in the interview as well.

Notre Dame Commit Josh Barajas Receives Army Bowl Jersey

The gym inside Merrille (Ind.) Andrean High was ramped up Monday morning as senior linebacker and Notre Dame commit Josh Barajas was presented his U.S. Army All-American Bowl jersey.

The whole student body packed in, with the band and cheerleaders creating a fantastic atmosphere.

It was loud, and it was exciting, as the nation’s No. 2 inside linebacker according to 247Sports earned high school football’s highest individual honor.

“It’s a huge deal,” Barajas said. “Representing not only my school but on the national level, the setup is freaking awesome. I didn’t know it was going to be this good. In front of the whole school, I’m getting goose bumps right now. It’s amazing.”

Barajas is one of 90 players set to play in the 15th annual game on Jan. 3 in San Antonio, Texas. NBC will have the national broadcast from inside the Alamo Dome, and no doubt the Andrean community will be dialed in.

The history and tradition of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl is unparalleled, highlighted by Heisman Trophy winners and more than 200 NFL players counted among its alumni. Throughout its 14 years, the game has featured the nation’s most elite football players, including: Andrew Luck, Jamaal Charles, Percy Harvin, Eric Berry, Patrick Peterson, LeSean McCoy, Sammy Watkins, and hundreds more.

“I’m looking forward to playing with the kids and meeting the other national recruits, and getting an extra step competing with kids on that level and getting used to the college-like competition,” Barajas said.

Over 40,000 fans have attended the last three U.S. Army All-American Bowl, many of them servicemen and servicewomen to this great nation.

“That place is going to be electric,” Barajas said. “It’s going to be an unbelievable feeling. It’s going to be awesome.”

In addition to being the nation’s No. 2 player at his position, 247Sports ranks the 6-foot-3, 215-pound Barajas as the No. 1 prospect in Indiana and the country’s No. 165 player overall. He helped lead his team to a state championship as a junior, and Barajas is looking for another ring this fall.

“We’ve moved him inside,” Andrean head coach Phil Mason said. “We love the way he’s getting downhill and starting to really visualize and read his keys. You’re seeing the reason he’s at the level he is because he’s a thumper inside. He plays long on the outside and is very graceful, and gets off blocks and makes great plays, but he’s really been a physical presence inside for us.”

Committed to Notre Dame since May, Barajas was just as fired up talking about the Irish as he was getting his Army Bowl jersey.

“Oh man they’re off to a great start,” Barajas said. “It’s amazing watching their defense, and Everett Golson is a great player. Everything is looking so good over there.”

Barajas keeps in regular contact with recruiter Mike Elston and plans to be back in South Bend this coming weekend for the North Carolina game.

“He tells me he can’t wait for me to get up there, and the depth at linebacker is not really up to par where they want it to be,” Barajas said of his chats with Elston. “He asks me about what’s going on with my life. He’s like a parent almost.”

The folks at Andrean that packed into the gym Monday morning can’t wait to see Barajas in the Blue and Gold. It’s a huge Notre Dame community.

“We have so many people that support the team and are alumni of Notre Dame,” Mason said.

“I hope he gets a chance to play with Jaylon (Smith). Watching Jaylon play Saturday, and see him be more inside, when you look at Jaylon he’s still a lanky kid, and the type of linebackers they’re bringing in, they want a kid that is extremely athletic but has to be extremely physical with the teams they play. Is (Josh) a SAM, is he a WILL, absolutely, absolutely, and when he gets in there with their strength and conditioning program he’ll continue to develop into that physical presence.”

“Maybe next year, for sure the year after you’re going to be seeing him playing out there.”

Dakich is such a prick on his radio show. The way he continues to justify Urban Liar and his actions is so lame.
