This thread:

It feels like somebody took my heart and dropped it into a bucket of boiling tears. And, at the same time, somebody else is hitting my soul in the crotch with a frozen sledgehammer. And then a third guy walks in and starts punching me in the grief bone. And I am crying, and nobody can hear me because I am terribly, terribly, terribly alone.

I'm with you Lax. I have zero interest in the game and will probably watch the recorded version Sunday morning.

WTF?!?

I hear they are accepting applicants into the fvk Wolverine fanclub, I think you'd make a wonderful addition. Could probably even score a complimentary pair of football tickets to kickstart your fandom.

Fck1n posers!

You're really going to tell me you are less excited about a Golson led squad in 2014 than a Rees led squad 2013? I dont see how and thats no offense to Mr. Rees.

GET PUMPED IE!!!!

It's weird. I was really excited for the 2012 season. I remember cracking a beer at the 8:30 kickoff for ND-Navy, and being so excited to see Golson play finally. I thought we'd only win 9 games that year, but was still ecstatic to see the team. I'm again thinking 9 wins, and there just isn't the same excitement for some reason. I'm really not sure why, because I think on paper we're close to the same talent as 2012:

QB: Clearly Golson in 2014>2012
RB: I'll give the edge to Wood/Riddick, but its close
WR: Our 2014 unit is better. We had TJ, RS Frosh DD, and then Toma, Goodman, Smith. Weak depth.
TE: Obviously better in 2012 with Eifert/Niklas
OL: This is a push. Better at LT/LG in 2012, but better at C,RG, RT in 2014.

DL: Definitely better in 2012. Think we have more talented depth now though.
LB: Better in 2012, but not by much IMO. Fox/Brese were liability and Spond/Shembo were just pretty good.
CB: Better now, even without KVR. Much better depth.
S: Better now IMO.

K/P: Better now as well. More seasoned.

Take it easy Wahoo McDaniel.

This is an ND fansite, yes? We drone on incessantly about formations, recruiting, field turf, jersey outfitters, playing conditions, weather reports, academic probations, Sagarin rankings, coaches, depth charts, practice videos and then we get people saying they aren't even interested in watching the games?!?

That's akin to signing up for a Catholic theology discussion forum and then saying, "I'll probably just skip Mass for a while, I may pray at some point", after engaging in discussions on Aquinas' metaphysics.

We are here because we all fall somewhere on the ND fandom scale of "Really interested" ---> "Obsessed". It just doesn't make much sense to post such Michigan on this forum.

Case. Closed.

I can see you are on the "Obsessed" end. Clearly. Chill out man though... seriously. Not everyone is as obsessed as you appear to be. And I really don't see the correlation between commenting on an internet forum and devotion to a religion. It will be alright. We can make it through this.

You don't see the correlation between commenting on an internet forum (devoted to the leading Catholic university's football team) and a devotion to a religion... in his case the Catholic religion.

Really?

To you... NOT for a LARGE portion of the ND fanbase.

Still shocks me that some Subway's can't understand that many Alum's look at ND as a whole where no aspect of the University stands apart from the other.

His post is more logical than yours.... a first for VDP.

Who said that we're Subways? That BS attitude is what makes alum's look like pompous @ssholes.

My friend, you could not be more wrong,
The Irish will roll right along.
They'll win through December
And then you'll remember
The day that I wrote you this song.

This is the part where Belushi smashes your guitar, Sally.

I don't really get this post at all. For the record VDP is typically a thoughtful poster IMO. Are you saying that a large portion of the ND fan base believe the football discussions are on par with Catholic doctrine/dogma and should be pondered to the same extent as one's personal salvation and eternal being?

Damn, everyone wants to be a mod. Ya'll are fighting over a very unsexy position. You get to spend your time policing a web board for free. Granted a lot of us already spend our time on here for free, but I respect anyone that takes that kind of responsibility upon them. I know I don't want it.

Doesn't it help to put IE Moderator on your resume?

I don't know what would be wrong or strange about that ... Lots of people find theology intellectually interesting without actually practicing religion.

We are here because we all fall somewhere on the ND fandom scale of "Really interested" ---> "Obsessed". It just doesn't make much sense to post such Michigan on this forum.

I see no reason for this site to be a place for fanatics only. Casual fans, even opposing fans, more than welcome, imo. If somebody doesn't care to watch the games, then I guess I question his fanhood but I have no problem with him posting on the site.

I'm at a loss here. A large portion of the ND fanbase equates ritually observing ND football games with the practice of religion?? That's outright blasphemy.
