Blue & Gold Illustrated has learned that one of Notre Dame's top defensive targets in the class of 2015 has set his official visit to check out South Bend for 48 hours.
Sources have confirmed that Palm Beach Gardens (Fla.) High School four-star linebacker Tevon Coney, who has a top two of Notre Dame and Florida, will visit South Bend on Sept. 6 when the Irish take on Michigan.
The 6-1, 225-pounder first visited South Bend for the Irish Invasion camp on June 20 and this visit will mark his second trip to Notre Dame.
There are 24 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions on Coney's profile. 21 of those predictions have him choosing the Gators, while three have him ending up with the Irish.
Coney's offer list includes Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Ohio State, Clemson, Miami, Kentucky and many others.
As a junior, Coney totaled 172 tackles, 14 sacks, 6 forced fumbles and had two interceptions.
Per 247Sports, Coney is the No. 11 inside linebacker in the country and the No. 38 overall prospect in Florida.
That makes no sense
IMO his commitment is him saving a spot at Florida.

What's the logic there?
Muschamp: "If you don't commit by mid-August, I can't guarantee you a spot in this class."
Coney: "Can I still take OVs?"
Muschamp: "Um, sure!"

IDK why you'd commit (unless it's to ND, which according to his more recent top 1, it is not) and then immediately take an OV to Notre Dame.
I wouldn't be surprised if he remains uncommitted until post-ND's pounding of scUM.
Florida just grabbed Adonis Thomas. Similar OLB prospect and highly rated. Thats Baker and Thomas in the last month.
Florida's early LB recruiting success could be our best friend here.

Don't get too positive on that game. We all know anything can happen in these games no matter how bad the other team is. Michigan sucked last year and still managed to beat us. Not that we were all that special with Tommy in the helm. Just saying I won't be surprised if we somehow choke in this game, IMO.
Looks like I'm right.

I'm not confident at all. I'm casually watching the OSU/UM game right now, and Gardner is 8/9 with 2 TDs in the first quarter. If he can do that against OSU, we all know what he can do against us, lol.
Gardner played well against us. You need to watch another game to see that he can play well?

Gardner shot his wad against us last year. He was pretty much empty after that. I watched them play against UConn and he wasn't near the level against us. UConn bailed scUM out in that game.
I'm in the camp that recruits don't really decide based on the actual result of the game they OV. Obviously it doesn't hurt to win, but unless you get embarrassed and the stadium's dead by halftime, I think they get the picture you're trying to paint.
Either way, he's now apparently committing "in September," which seems logical. Though those who push their dates back often keep pushing while they make the rounds. Hope for our sake he commits, oh, about Sept. 10.
Another dynamic this year is how BVG uses linebackers. I cannot help but think Coney is watching MLB; Schmidt, Grace, or Morgan? How do packages work? How aggressive is BVG with his linebackers?
My worthless instinct is this kid is looking for a reason not to go to ND. If the linebacker play is appealing, he hasn't got a shot at staying in FLA. (I hope the way I posted this wasn't too confusing, but I found it mildly entertaining, so I ran with it.)
