I think USC and ND are both neck and neck and Hayes is playing it that way. There's a reason two different staffs and media members feel so confident.

Im also so hesitant to get excited about this kid. This is Christian French all over again. Super athletic kid with limited reps on defense. Show me some legitimate film of him at LB before I'm genuinely interested.

His sophomore season was cut short by injury so there's almost no tape of him. He has been to several camps after recovering though and has blown everyone away. I'd love to see film of him playing more too, but if the staff was impressed enough to offer him at camp and compare him to Jaylon, I take it as a pretty good sign that the kid is legit.

Scrader says Hayes wants to commit to USC ASAP.

This is either an amazing scoop by Schrader or a fail of epic proportion because he's really really confident in his info on Hayes

What's stopping him from doing it?

So much time between now and 2016 signing day... If he does commit I would be surprised if it sticks.

Whenever a reporter goes all in on a prediction like this its because they have info from a first hand source. So either a coach told him that they're going to offer and Hayes said he will commit, or Hayes told him he's going to commit to USC.

Often, they end up being wrong because the source was wrong/lying. So we'll see but I doubt Schrader would be this emphatic if he didn't have the goods.

He went out to L.A., on his own dime, with no offer, I would say he must have legitimate interest. That would be unfortunate.

While I agree with that in most cases there are two things that I'll take away from camp settings and RB vs. LB reps. If either the LB has no chance or is completely dominating. Meaning if the LB is loosing by small margins there's not much that can be taken from that rep. Daelin was absolutely shutting down all and every RB at the recent rivals camp. He is close the the coverage ability that Jaylon had at similar stages. Also, he is by all accounts a workout machine with his focus on playing LB.

While I agree with this, camp settings are also deceiving at times. With the RB vs LB reps, the LB already knows he'll be in coverage. He knows pre-snap what his responsibility is. There's no blockers coming at him, and no other routes to confuse him. Its not a game setting. There's no responsibility on his part to diagnose the play.

Look im glad the kid is lighting camps up. However, I've also been following recruiting long enough to understand that it doesn't always translate. I saw Jaylon produce in both settings. That also doesn't always translate but until I see both from Hayes, I won't get to excited. If things keep trending this way, it may not matter.

Another interesting piece here is Schrader is saying that if Hayes is offered, he'll commit, and then there will be huge news to follow. Anybody have any idea what the huge news to follow would be?

A reclassification to the '15 class? Does that happen in football?

I've got my tinfoil hat on because of the tweet I posted in the National Recruiting thread.

So speculation is Daelin is moving to Cali, going to St. Bonaventure HS, so his commitment to USC is imminent. This has been one strange but short ride.

well that's disappointing. I thought he could have been Jaylon's replacement...

Ah well that makes sense. Good luck to him, except... you know... in football games.

How? What? When? Why? this is absolutely horrible news. I thought this kid was all Notre Dame, i have not seen Wiltfong switch his CB yet. If that happens then he is gone.

With Wiltfong everything is going to be all right.

Wiltfong is now hearing everything from his sources as Schrader is. Flipped his CB to USC.

Well this sucks

The whole moving to LA thing is just one crazy angle. Anyone know what spurred that on in the first place?

I believe the initial speculation was because they visited Ventura, CA where St. Bonaventure is, first thing when they got to LA, before even going to USC.

I'm not sold that's the case. But there is something going on behind the scenes that has yet to he revealed. By the way Schrader and Wiltfong are talking it's not just like he loved the visit.

His family probably inherited some money from a rich uncle living in South Africa. That's happened to me several times via email.
