His feet never cross the 36" mark, but he scored a 38.3" and a 39". Only at the Opening, lol.

Yup. Measures the vertical by amount of time off the ground.

I think it was discussed earlier...but this really is a bass-ackwards way of measuring a vertical jump. Not that difficult. The nfl combine method seems as simple and accurate as possible.

If it's somehow adjusted to take a players weight into account then I don't think is that misguided as we suspect. 100#s of bricks falls at the same speed as 100#s of feathers

Fair- I'm sure that you can get the math right to make it work. It probably has a scale built into it for that adjustment. But it just seems like technological overkill for something that is pretty simple (gotta remind myself this is at Nike). I also know that the physics for business majors course that I took was not that rigorous (so maybe i am not the right person to comment)- but seems like there is more room for error than having a guy stretch as far as he can, measuring, then having him jump to hit the plastic overhang things and measuring how high he hit...taking the difference.

Well I owe him an apology if that's true.

I really don't think Sanders is a correlation to Anzalone at all although.

Is there a source related to him yet?

From a first impression, you can see a similarity between Anzalone and Sanders, because of their dad's affiliations with other schools. Sanders dad played at Ohio State, though his mom also went to Michigan, so I guess going to ND would be meeting in the middle.

Agree. I can't think of any reason to use this method. Other than inflating scores to boost the appeal of the camp (not only to recruits but to media and sponsors). Even that is a stretch considering it's sponsored by Nike

CJ is all Irish. He sounds ready to be at ND, hell he is transferring to Notre Dame HS.

Actually that's only correct in the presence of a vacuum tube.

Friction in air allows the feathers to float aimlessly to the ground and allows birds to fly.

Right, all the feather-coated players will register huge verticals.

I agree. Does the NFL's method take into account the difference in arm length? I would think they could devise something with a laser that would measure the top of their heads.

Yeah- they measure your reach flat-footed, so they have how high you can touch standing on the ground (takes arm length out of the equation). Then they just subtract that from the height that you are able to hit.

Also- kids love technology so this is probably a fun and different way for them to be measured.

Arm length can be stretched in the air.

I'm guessing that time intervals between leaving the platform and once again making contact with it are a more accurate measure. Unless last millisecond cheating occurs where they would pull their knees up to their chest and land in a squat.

They like to move people up or down progressively. By the middle of the season I expect he will be a top 20 receiver and settle to a to 15 when it is all said and done

Pretty powerful acknowledgement, the recruiting turn of Newsome. Hope the services pay attention.

In TV there is a blurb that says a BCS staff told 247 that they think ND got quite a coup with Sanders and Guyton
