1. I wasn't upset by that post. When he tried to say he always says "I think", which is a lie, that's when I posted a reply.
2. For the 100th time, it's not the overly abundance of sunshine that gets me, it's the fact that he chastises other members for offering different opinions, backed by facts and quotes, that gets me. Maybe you've missed it or forgot or whatever, but NDSean has been talking shit to other posters dating back over probably 6 months. He didn't do it on this thread but he's done it plenty. Some of us hammer pretty good, but he's got on posters for no reason other than they don't share in his delusion that we are going to get every recruit. It works both ways.
There are plenty of optimistic members that we have zero problems with.
3. His Hilliard prediction isn't controversial to me at all. I never said a word about it. I agree that it's close.
Rocket89 is the board's resident mediator. The only emotions he will tolerate are acceptance, friendliness, respect, and otherwise good vibes. He's even a bigger proponent of ELE than the Koon. He wanted all of us to be nice to Hopkins rather than raising a big stink. He wants everyone to be nice to Sean (and he makes a really salient point about the "opinion" vs. "fact" thing).
You're 100% right that the post Rocket quoted is NOT what got people "pissy"... what got people pissy would be the
dozens of posts before that. Ironman and others have had to do cleanup and censoring throughout the thread to keep things from boiling over. He rankles a lot of members... sorry, I meant "know it alls" on this board.
It's funny that my post begat this recent flare up since I've consistently defended Sean's right to say his piece since the moment he joined this board. Disparate viewpoints are great and I personally welcome argument... just like a couple pages back in this thread about Hubbard with TP. We're buds but we passionately disagree on Hubbard. So what? That's what discussion boards are for.
In this case I was just trying to preempt a lot of negative emotions. As truly amazing Hilliard would be for ND on so many levels, I'm not even going to blink if he picks OSU because he did everything the right way and that seems the most probable destination. If people are "surprised" when he picks OSU it's much more likely that they start lashing out at him/Meyer/OSU on this board, Twitter, etc. which'll just be more fool to the fire for guys like that dude at Bucknuts.
