Even if they aren't top tier, we can sign guys who aren't necessarily scary additions to the depth chart, but they add more depth. Someone has to be Evan Sharpley, right?
If thats the route we have to go by missing on other guys then I'd just wait until fall and see how the everything shakes out with Golson, Malik, and Kizer. There is no reason to rush and grab a mid level QB right now. Also, if we are signing a QB just for depth purposes and not to be an impact player why not just bring in a PWO. All these What if's scenarios create interesting conversation and maybe one of them comes true but at this point we don't have a depth issue at QB and won't next year. We recruit for that. If during the season Malik is unhappy and looks to be transferring or Golson is looking like a lock for the draft. We'll address it then. No need to rush offers to mid level QB's right now, IMO.
I'll add this, right now we are recruiting our 4th string QB for next year and thats all we know right now. If that guy is somebody that can someday get us to the playoff, definitely take him. If not, no reason to rush it.
