To me, I've always considered "deep south" to be Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama.

I consider "southeast" to Florida and Georgia... potentially extending to the Carolinas and even southern/coastal Virginia depending on context.

Yes. This. Maybe throw in Georgia outside Atlanta.
Notre Dame does lose more battles than it wins in most parts of the country, but it hardly ever wins in that part of the country. It's been, what, a decade since we had a kid from Louisiana on the roster? Mississippi? Forget it.
It doesn't seem like a Louisiana kid who's our best recruit and apparent great fit - but who remains curious about other programs - is the right place to start playing hardball.

As Notre Dame's sole participant, how was Tillery's performance at the Rivals challenge? I believe he was on Team Highlight, along with Bryon Cowart.

Is he a recruit?

That's really weird that Les Miles's kid is traveling with Tillery to ND.

Miles' kid seems like someone shopping for preferred walk on offers. Maybe he'd be interested in ND?

5'11" 170lbs....probably not. But i assume you are joking. This is one of the weirder things I've seen in awhile.

Yeah it's a joke because why would Les Miles's son need to go to LSU so the staff can evaluate him for an offer.

And I just explained the joke so it's no longer funny. Carry on, everyone.

Yeah I'll be really surprised if he sticks the way things are going, but it's possible. He's very upfront and honest. We're basically just "in the race" for a player from Louisiana.

Honestly, I don't think tackle is really a need. One thing I'm really upset about is Richie Petitbon not getting an offer. Awesome versatile prospect and ND legacy... going to Bama. SMH.

So we shouldn't also watch him taking three visits to Notre Dame in four months? He may be curious about Texas, and who wouldn't want to go to the Bama-LSU game. But he sounds pretty solid at this point.

I don't see how in any way that is solid. He's been taking visits (for various excuses), he still talks to other coaches and allows them to actively recruit them, and he still plans on taking more visits. That is not a pretty solid commitment at all. I said the same thing when Barnett tweeted that he got those offers from Bama and Oregon, and I was laughed at bc Barnett had a ND golf bag lol.

Out of all our commitments, Hoge is the most solid, for obvious reasons. Tillery, for me anyway, is the least solid and it's not really close. He's a stud and he's going to be recruited hard, but we've had studs before that haven't taken visits. THOSE guys were solid. Tillery is anything but. His actions say he isn't.

I don't see anything to indicate there is a real problem with Jerry. A) I would use my leverage to see a game or two; B) I would make sure, especially if I were an early commit. Tell me that you have a problem with Tillery's words and actions compared to say Barnett's!

Far too many Cassandras(looking for bad news) on this thread, Bogs. Jerry Tillery is an intriguing young man, who has more going for himself than just being a football player. Who better to inform and to show your choice for a college commitment than another school's coach's son! Think of it Bogs, as far as personality goes, Notre Dame may have just found themselves another Alan Page!

We better hope that they aren't Cassandras. She was prophetic.

Or maybe....just maybe....the last 4 years of recruiting has taught us a valuable lesson:

ND commits who take visits are rarely 100% committed and almost always jump ship late in the cycle when pressure cranks up. Don't you guys think you're being a little naive about this?
