He says they've had the best D in the country the last three years. Not sure that's quite true. Statistically didn't we in 2012 and I'm not so sure they did in 2011 either. Just last year right? Someone needs to remind him that Kelly has owned Michigan State.

Since when have facts mattered in recruiting?

Their scheme may also look fun to play in as a pass rusher. Just wait until the new scheme is played this fall, i gotta believe that'll help.

TJ has been saying that for a couple months. He thinks that will quickly turn some heads.

Statistically, Cornell, and the Christian Brothers school Cretin, have not played against competitive high school football teams. In contrast, Chad Thomas, in his four year Miami high school career, pushed, shoved, and competed against over 100 division 1 football recruits. In Jashon's three years at Cretin, I doubt if he was on the field with four or five Division 1 recruits. Minnesota plays terrible high school football. Jashon Cornell is a gym warrior! We can only guess what he can do against competition.

Maybe their #1 when averaging out the last three years. For points against or total D or something?

I think that is what he was referring to and that is very possible. I dont have the stats in front of me, but that is very likely.

Forget the stats...all you have to do is watch them play and be excited to play in that defense. They get after the quarterback, they are fundamentally sound, their DB's can cover, and they develop the hell out of their players. I don't blame anyone for wanting to play in their defense. And if academics aren't too big of a concern, why not play for MSU if you're a defender? Some people like bigger schools. My kid won't be able to turn down a higher academic school if put in the same position (unless it was USC over MSU lol), but to each his own.

Why not play for MSU? Because your DC won't be there much longer.

One source that Steve trusts close to this situation still believes it will be ND in the end. Even though publicly Jashon said recently it was MSU on top he told this source days later that he'll end up at ND. However there isn't much communication between the two parties. Wiltfong believes that MSU and ND lead and he could see Cornell at ND but it sounds like we need to step up the pressure or we just don't like him as much as others. That last little bit about liking other prospects is my words.

Wiltfong is confused haha.

A source close the family told him last night that ND leads. The source confirmed that Cornell told him that MSU led after the visit but three days later Cornell told the source that ND leads.

Wiltfong said it would be a surprise to the staff if they led.

Now I'm confused, lol.

That last part is pretty telling, IMO. Wooly, do you like salt on your bugars?

I know Jashon is a clubhouse favorite here so don't shoot the messenger but just like Tuitt gaining weight and it hurting his draft stock I think the staff may have taken the same approach here. I said this before Jashon at 270+ was not the player he was previously. I have no way of knowing this for sure but these updates make it seem like Jashon isn't at the top of the board at DE anymore for the staff.

Haha, I actually shouldn't have phrased it that way because I wasn't bringing any info. Just my opinion.

Didn't I just read somewhere that he just lost 15 lbs. recently because he didn't like how the extra weight was affecting his body?

Yea and now its on the staff to evaluate him to see if he's back to a better playing shape. Its not that he can't lose the weight (see Tuitt example), its that it may happen again in the future. He basically admitted to not caring for his body.
