I thought someone had a smashing idea to get a thread started early to list the projected, and confirmed attendees. And to later match them against those that made the event. Also, anyone with press releases or information on camp specifics, feel free.

EDIT : Reps to IrishLion10 for the idea of the day to create this thread! He must indeed be a shining beacon of inspiration. Just like the newly lit Golden Dome. Lets all get the LED out. Get it lion?

NIKE's the Opening will be held shortly after this ND recruiting event. I see five Opening invitees on this list. There are the two ND verbals Jerry Tillery and Blake Barnett(first invite to the elite 11), along with the two defensive backs from Texas, P J Mbanasor and Kendall Sheffield, and a linebacker from Georgia, Adonis Thomas. Both Tilllery and Barnett, have the personalities and charisma to be good recruiters for the program at the Opening.

I'm still fairly new to following recruiting, so what exactly will be going down at this camp?

They'll workout some of the players that don't have offers or that just want to compete (Barnett) and give tours to ones that already have offers. So the experience will be different for some. Obviously they'll have the different players in different position groups to go through drills.

So it's also an evaluation period for the guys without offers?

Yes, Drue Tranquill and Jonathon Bonner were two that received offers from their camp efforts last summer.

Nick Conner and Justin Tranquill would be two to watch for potential offers from their performances. I'd say Shareef Miller as well but I think there's more the story with him and a camp performance may not matter

Both strike me as the kind of guys we usually bitch about slow playing come NSD, and I think both have what it takes to contribute after a year or two in the system. Does anyone know if either are high enough on ND that a commitment would come upon offering? That's the only reason I can think of that we're holding off.

Is Adonis only there for the 21st or will he stay through the camp?

Matt Smith 6'1 237 ATH out of Cali received a visit from LaFleur last week and will be coming to camp. Apparently this kid is way under the radar, didn't even have a rivals profile until Sampson put it together following him getting this info. We like him at OLB.

Here's his highlights.

I would assume they are required to for whatever they have planned (swag handout?).At least I hope that ND isn't just trying to get $1 or $2k out of a recruiting weekend.

agree probably some sort of sarbanes/oxley ncaa rule or sumthin like that.

just find it odd is all. looked like cost $65.

i would assume they have to, since they are most likely providing food etc...otherwise it would KIND of be like an official visit...

yup and its probably a reason why some kids dont bother with the camp circuit too much, you gotta pay the travel costs and the camp costs too.

besides the food and maybe a t shirt they have to pay because they are open to the public

kid from Ft. Wayne, Indiana, who has a die hard ND dad wants his kid to go. Pays the fee.

You can't turn around and then let the top flight kids in for free.

Has improper benefits written all over it.

Are you sure on this? Any kid that wants to come can show up and pay the fee? I would assume thats not the case.

I think either let anyone that wants come or they have two different camps. There is at least one camp when many high school and younger go to learn football.

I went to the Charlie Weis equivalent of the "High School Position" 4-day camp I guess back in 2005. Except we didn't have the option of AC/non-AC dorms haha. It was miserable in our dorms.

EDIT: side note, I was an offensive lineman and there were two guys at the camp that got special attention from Jon Latina almost the entire time. I was getting water one day, and Charlie was sitting on his golf cart (that's all he did basically for the four days I was there) nearby, and I overheard him talking to Latina. He was asking Latina if either of the "big linemen" were worth an offer, and Latina replied in the affirmative. Would love to know who that might have been to this day.

I posted this on the first page but they are publicly advertising this as well.

Nothing on here for the 20th but the 7on camp is the next day. I am assuming all the "Irish Invasion" guys are still gonna be around the next day.

Your initial post was referencing the fee that is on the Irish Invasion Camp Invitation. I might be wrong, but I just don't think they are going to have some random LB taking reps away from Kirkland, Connor, etc. when they are legitimately trying to evaluate them. Maybe they have a different camp for that. That would make sense but that has nothing to do with Irish Invasion which is what you initially referenced.

camp is a camp correct? they would all be there on the 21st? don't think the ncaa would let it fly if one kid gets in free and another doesnt. But you probably have a better understanding of how it works.

I do know when I used to go to camp circuits. Invited or not, everyone paid. Things can change in the years since I have been involved so don't want to sound to sure of myself.
